  • One MVC game on Christmas Day, 12/25

BYU just knocked off Northern Iowa 84-76 in Honolulu

Box score for the BYU Cougars vs. Northern Iowa Panthers NCAAM game from December 25, 2015 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

BYU had a 10-15 point lead much of the 1st half & never trailed in the 2nd half
UNI took 35 3-pt shots...over half their attempts came from beyond the arc..
Nine times this year they've taken more than 20 attempts from the arc and five times they've taken 24 or more.

unless the snowed out game between Wichita & New Mexico State gets made up at a later date...
it looks like final non-conference record for the MVC is 66-58, with nine of those wins against non-DI's.
Thus the NCAA sees the conference record as 57-58.

The MVC's non-conference RPI is tied for 13th with the Horizon, and SOS ranks 10th among conferences.
Wichita is ranked the best among MVC teams in non-conference RPI at 56, then UNI at 67, Evansville at 78, SIU at 95.
Preseason "contender" ISU has an RPI of 170.
It would appear that only Wichita and Northern Iowa have a chance of getting an at-large bid...and even Wichita's chances are shaky since they went 1-4 again Top-50 teams and 2-5 vs. Top 100.
The team that has it all together in March might get the Valley's only bid.

First, Wichita & New Mexico State have rescheduled their snowed out game for Feb. 15.

But New Mexico State has done something kind of unusual that is raising some eyebrows...
They have scheduled their HOME GAME for next Monday(Feb. 8 ) to be played at an arena they have rented in a suburb of Albuquerque....some 4 hours drive and 250 miles away from their home arena in Las Cruces, NM - in order to take advantage of their large alumni base in New Mexico's biggest city. But of course that doesn't really set well with folks at University of New Mexico whose campus is in Albuquerque. This is kinda as if WIU scheduled a home game in Dunlap...
BTW - several NBA scouts have been showing up at NMSU games to watch their best player Pascal Siakam.
