Something that almost went unnoticed by those following the MVC-
Yesterday's polls showed Northern Iowa got votes for the Top 25 polls for the first time. They got 15 votes in the AP Media poll, which would rank them #33, and in the USA Today Coaches poll they got 5 votes, which would rank them #37.
I thought after UNI lost a lot to graduation last year, that Wichita State would be the only team getting Top 25 votes from the MVC, but UNI has been a surprise.
For the record, Wichita State was ranked 10th and 12th in the two polls in the preseason, and 9th and 11th in the week 2 polls. But then as they accumulated losses, they quickly dropped completely out of the Top 25 by week 4, and in fact did not even receive a single vote by week 4 in the AP poll, and just 2 in the USA Today Coaches poll. They started receiving a few votes again last week after wins over UNLV and Utah, but this week, after their loss to Seton Hall, their vote total in both polls dropped to zero again.
