Attendance...

One of the interesting threads on the IU Hoosiers board deals with their attendance..
plenty of fans are saying they have never seen their arena so empty for home games as they have seen it this year...

The current example- in yesterday's game the attendance was reported as A SELLOUT, 17,472

but here's a photo of the arena in the middle of the game -- gotta be at least 5-6,000 seats empty, including hundreds in the lower section only a few rows off the court
...heck - they have a fan base that's 10-20 times ours, 4- & 5-STAR players, and are 8-3 & undefeated (7-0) at home!

Attendance announced is tickets sold not bodies through the doors. IU fans are not happy with the home schedule nor the teams play this especially on defense this year. However season tickets sell out every year as do student tickets.

But the whole upper section is totally empty - are you saying that section is all sold out, and yet not one of those ticket buyers came?

Normally if you have a winner, they will come, but in this case Tom Crean is not looked upon favorably for many reasons, but I believe from what I have heard, it has a lot to do with many of the decorated alumni players. Short of a run to an Elite 8 or better in the NCAA tourney, I see him receiving his walking papers w/ a handsome buy out.

Too bad- Crean is a good guy and has gotten kids to the NBA ...
IU fans will almost certainly NEVER be happy with anyone - unless....and you know that's not going to happen..

you are right, that's not gonna happen. He was a great coach in his day, but the days of guys like that are a thing of the past. It would only have one positive affect on basketball at this point, and that would be getting him off the tv set with his ultra-boring color commentating!

ESPN dumped Knight at the end of last season. Did someone else pick him up?

BTW, Crean is one of the most foul-mouthed guys you'll ever hear.
OTOH, my friends with a relative in the program have nothing but good things to say.
