    not looking real good....

this one is the most troubling....

Drake losing to DePaul 62-57 with 6 min to go
Indiana State has lost to Valpo 69-63 (Alec Peters with 15 pts/11 rebs)
Wichita hosting UNLV, 26-17 in 1st half

Fred Van Vleet is back and playing well for Wichita State. Combine that with playing at home, and they are tough to beat. UNLV is a good team, but I think WSU will hold on for the win.
      It is 31-22 at halftime.

Fred had a great game and they barely beat an unranked team that played badly.
With their starters on court they scored only 2 points over a crucial 4-minute stretch from 4:20 all the way down to 0:28...but were very fortunate to hold on since UNLV played equally as badly, scoring only four points over the final 3:36

in the four MVC games, the Valley goes just 1-3 and was 1-2 last night, 5-5 Saturday
..so the as of Wednesday nite, Dec. 9 - MVC is now 43-43 overall and 36-43 vs. DI teams. Doubt the MVC's record has been this weak 86 games into the season in over a decade.

WSU's defense was scary good last night. Holding a team that overages 83 down to 50 in a step in the right direction.

With that said, the shooting was scary bad. I think WSU ended 3-17 from three and 11-22 from the FT Line (they were 6 of 15 going into the last 30 seconds then made 5 of the last 7 to close it out). I think it's safe to say the shooting was an anomaly. The team is looking better. Frankamp played and was able to give Fred and Ron a bit of rest, but was 0-5 from the field (all were close misses) but hit 2 clutch free throws to close it. I'm sure the nerves of his first game in a year and a half being a "must-win" against a quality opponent didn't help. I'm sure he will start to contribute more.

All in All, it was a gutty "Shocker style" win. A win with Defense, hustle, loose balls, and Rebounds. A good sign for the rest of the year if they can keep it up, then get Grady back and eventually Shamet.
