Wardle hinted that practice was a reason and because of certain match ups...

He also said that most teams in the Valley at this point are separating who is going to be playing and who isn't.

I had heard he might be going to shorten his playing rotation to about 8 players, which is what happened tonight. A lot of coaches believe a team is better off playing just 8 guys or so. it makes players play harder to get or keep playing time.

We might not win a conference game.

It was good for the player's to get a much needed W......but there is still a lot of work to do......what's up with the FTs?

it appeared to me that Bradley handled them at least as well as ISU just handled 1-7 UIC and Indiana State handled DII UIS......
but the difference is that we played them with our freshman squad

Good optimistic points you make here Tornado. Have full or half empty, it depends upon how one chooses to view it. I was just happy for these young kids to get a much needed win. It must be very difficult to go work so hard practicing as much, and as long as they have, get beaten down the way they have early on, hear all of the negativity, and these boys also have to balance very difficult school work to boot. Bradley may not be Harvard, but there aren't any imaginary courses to take on the hilltop like they have in Chapel Hill

I agree that this was a below average D2 team, we did struggle, but as you stated, we have a lot of freshman out there. I consider this an early Christmas present, and enjoy it while I can, because it very well could be the last win this season!

It never ceases to amaze me how uninformed some college basketball fans are.

Maryville is a surprise to be D2 school?

What cave do people live in?

This Bradley team is young and will grow.

This Bradley team will, also, over the next couple years add more players. Yes... I said it. We will add more players. This core of 10 Freshmen will not be 10 Seniors for us in 3 years. We might have 5-6 of them make it til Seniors (if that).

                    Book it.

                      Story from BradleyBraves.com
PEORIA, IL - Bradley rode a 19-0 run midway through the first half and a balanced offensive attack to a 61-53 men's basketball victory versus Maryville University Thursday night at Carver Arena.

I like the fact that we put a run on them early as soon as they started subbing out their starters. In fact in the 1st half, not a single one of Maryville's subs scored a single point while our bench was very active!
Then once we had a double digit lead - we maintained it or close to it almost the entire rest of the way and we did NOT fold down the stretch even when we missed some FT's.
I saw a lot of good that we can build on....

But, I guess if there ever were such a thing as a "moral victory" when you lose...
then Dave Reynolds appears to be saying this was a "moral loss", even though we won...

"After nine games and 32 days of losing"
".. finally cracking into the win column for the first time since their season opener"
"..an opponent that seemingly had little business staying as close as it did"
"..the paid crowd of 5,601 — about half of whom were present"

Come on Dave- we've certainly played weaker opponents the past four years and you never took a swipe at those teams....
and like, we've seen the arena largely empty since Geno's first season and you only now noticed it & felt it was worth pointing out?

And someone has to mention it - so note that we had NINE home games, including multiple CONFERENCE games last year with smaller crowds
..and the announced attendance last night at a Holiday season NON-conference game against a DII opponent still nearly matched our AVERAGE home attendance all last year that included key matchups, Wichita & ISU!
So if there's gonna be any snide attendance comments, then please mention we're doing considerably better in ticket sales than we were the last few years even tho this staff was handed a cupboard that was infinitely more bare than what the last guys got.

So not knowing every school's move between divisions means people are uninformed? Not sure what your problem is MM. They moved in 2011 which isn't all that long ago. Actually I'm not surprised, disappointed, sad, happy,or even care they are D-2??¦.I just made a post
