Junior high kids know that. I thought we did a good job getting him the ball basically going toward the basket??¦??¦that normally doesn't happen in those situations??¦
I still have faith in Wardle and staff??¦.we just need to be patient

DLO should be playing the 2-guard position, but Bradley does not have a point guard who can run the offense. Maybe Joel Okafor will develop into a playmaking point guard, but right now, he's not there. And Bell isn't either. All of them dribble way too much and are not good passers. Check the turnovers- by far the top 3 BU players in turnovers/minute are DLO, Bell, & Okafor.
And an amazing stat I've never seen before- Not a single player on the team has an assists to turnover ratio greater than 1.0

And the FT's..... That being said.. I do also have faith in Wardle.

I see 3 reasons we're playing poorly..
-obviously freshman inexperience - this is how Donte played last year but look at the difference a single year has made for him
-Coach Wardle had no time and no opportunity to actually recruit the kids he wanted or needed, just got the best/only kids available
-obviously from last summer 'til now they have prepared a game plan to eat the clock, shorten the game, keep it close, and battle each possession in the 1/2 court. It has worked to keep us close in almost every game but it's not a particularly efficient offensive scheme. I have seen players turn down decent shooting opportunities early in the shot clock then launch a desperation shot at the shot clock expires. Also- we rarely feed the post which is the only place we actually hit better than 30-40%

Not taking the open shot is the biggest surprise to me because in the open practice he hosted Coach was always emphasizing taking the open shot. The other thing any have talked about is senior leadership. I'm not ripping on KB but he was basically a starter or one of the first guys off the bench the for three years and yet he really doesn't look any better then the freshmen we have playing. This shows how bad we really were.
I also believe that we will have some turnover of players w/ this many freshmen and w Coach recruiting over the guys that are already here.

The PJ Star Sports editor told us back in 2014 - after 3 or 4 failed years already of JG/Cross/Geno- that the fans needed to be patient, they did not understand it would take JG, Cross, & Geno several more years, that you simply cannot expect too much too soon so don't be critical... (assume he meant 4 or 5 more....??)
(keep in mind that Geno actually inherited multiple All-MVC "leftovers" in the cupboard and even a couple 1200+ career-point players)
So - wonder why he's already unloading on the team just 6 months in when he scolded us for NOT giving Geno 6-8 YEARS!!
(every player put together that was left behind by Geno won't combine to total close to 1000 pts)

Now that's the first I've heard about all that

lefty, you must have missed this column-
Wessler: Bradley rebuild will take a while
That was written Jan. 8, 2014, after 2 1/2 years of Geno's failures. It includes somewhat delusional statements supporting Geno like-
Second season, certainly. An undermanned squad showed heart and fight and re-established a home-court advantage and won half a dozen more games than I believed its talent capable of winning. The foundation was set for future success.
Anything good in year 2 was because of the skills of leftover players from Jim Les- Egolf, DSE, Lemon, Eastman, etc, and it was primarily due to a horrendously bad non-conference schedule 339th out of 341 D1 teams. It was certainly not a "foundation for future success" and Kirk dreamed of. And what kind of foundation is that? No D1 coach would ever think he could slide by forever with just the players he inherited from the previous coach..
Lack of leadership among the players was the theme of the first two months. That finally might be sorting out.
It never "sorted itself out" and remained a sore spot for the PJ Star guys for the next year and a half, and in fact got a lot worse after all of JL's players were finally gone.
There is more talent on this team than there was on Ford’s previous two Bradley rosters. But not enough more talent for the program to take a significant step forward.....More talent, but perhaps not as much savvy
This might be the most delusional statement. What "more talent" was he talking about? All of Geno's recruits (except Pickett) were failures, and most were dismissed quickly by Geno himself. Every Bradley fan could see from the beginning the talent declined under Geno. In fact the talent void got a whole lot worse when the last of the Les players were all gone. Geno's only All-MVC players in 4 years were all Jim Les recruits (Lemon, Brown, DSE)
All of this indicates recruiting misses. There’s no sense in dwelling on those.....
Sure, no reason to be concerned. In Kirk's mind it would all turn around soon.....yeah, right.
But it’s going to take longer than expected...It’s going to take a while.
So after 2 1/2 years of Geno's failures Kirk was urging fans to be patient and give Geno more time. But in his last column, after 9 games with almost exclusively freshmen because of the garbage pile left by Geno, Kirk was already willing to attack Coach Wardle's players and write them off as not being good enough, and not likely to ever be!
But they still lost, because they’re not very good. And I am beginning to wonder how good some of these guys are capable of becoming.
We’re all waiting. And I am wondering... if the team has the shooters capable of making shots consistently.

Don't we still play Maryville? Don't tell me they are going to beat us too.
I understand this is DI basketball and the team this year has been brutal to watch...but I think KW and DR have taken some unnecessarily early shots/jabs at BW and the team.
I have no patience typically but I am fine watching this year progress.
