SIU suspends starting center Bola Olaniyan

SIU Head Coach Barry Hinson announced this morning that starting center Bola Olaniyan is suspended indefinitely "for a violation of team rules"-

SIU is off to a surprising 5-0 start, and Olaniyan has started all five games. He is averaging 7.4 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game.
He will not travel with the team to Corpus Christi, Texas where SIU is competing in the Corpus Christi Coastal Challenge Friday (against UTEP) and Saturday (against Portland or Colorado State).

It is reported that on the postgame show after last night's win over Oakland, Barry Hinson said he had "attitude issues".

Bola was less productive last nite scoring just four in 19 minutes - way less than any other starter...then yanked with 12 min left & didn't return.
Wonder if he failed to heed the coach's wife & use the shot fake..

it is being discussed that Bola & Barry had some disagreement during that game, that Olaniyan didn't show up for a team shootaround and missed the bus and that he might be gone for good.

SIU center Bola Olaniyan was reinstated to the team. They play at home against SIUE tomorrow night.
