  • Example of inmates running the asylum

Here is an example of allowing the inmates to run the asylum, albeit at a low level of the NCAA.
An NCAA Division III school in New Jersey, William Paterson University, fired their basketball coach this past weekend over some undisclosed issue apparently regarding his use of school facilities for his own personal basketball camp.
So then, the team had their first scheduled home game after the coach's firing on Tuesday night, and the players prepared as usual for the game, the visiting team traveled for the game, and tickets were sold.
But after going through all their usual warm ups and drills, after the starting lineups were announced, and right before the game was about to start, every player on William Paterson took off their jerseys, piled them at center court, and walked off the court in a planned and organized protest of their coach's firing. William Paterson University was forced to forfeit the game.

The school has not announced what action they will take after last night's forfeited game, whether they will cancel their season, or whether they will cave, and allow the players to return to the team now that they have made their point.
I know what I would do if I ran the school, but then now it seems we keep seeing college administrators coddling and giving in to this grown-up, spoiled, "participation trophy" generation

I recently had a conversation with interim President Liberty about the events at Mizzou and Bradley's preparedness. I felt really good after speaking with Stan and how things are/would be handled at Bradley.

We were fortunate with his availability when needed.

President Liberty was the right man at the right time, and Bradley alums should be grateful that he was willing to step up graciously when asked to serve. President Liberty has some great tactical ideas designed to plug and fix significant deficiencies in the immediate term while acknowledging that a long term strategic can be built later by President Roberts. I know that Pres. Liberty supports incoming Pres. Roberts and is excited at what our new President can bring to the university.
