  • First Time in College Basketball History

Tonight marks the first time TWO 7-6 players (that's 7 ft - 6 inches)
played against each other in a college basketball game.

UC-Irvine and 7-6 Mamadou N'Diaye eked out a 1 point OVERTIME win over Central Florida and freshman 7-6 Tacko Fall, 61-60

N'Diaye started for UC-I, played just 19 minutes, was just 1-4, 4 pts & 2 rebs and was in foul trouble

Fall was playing his 2nd game since becoming eligible as a freshman, played 27 minutes, went 3-9, 6 pts, 7 rebs, 4 blocks.

UC-I's Luke Nelson - a British U20 teammate last summer of our DLO - had 22 pts for the Anteaters
Box score for the UC Irvine Anteaters vs. UCF Knights NCAAM game from November 18, 2015 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

Speaking of big men - anyone see the Saint Louis-SIUE game on TV?
In another foul-fest SLU is going to edge out SIUE, but SIUE has a remarkably active, mobile, athletic pair of BIG MEN that really impressed me (they played with foul trouble also)
Yemi Makanjuola went 4-5, 13 pts, 5 rebs in minutes that were limited by the foul calls - 6-10 transfer from UNC-W
Jalen Henry had 11 pts/8 reb - 6-8 soph from Springfield
    - but the guards all shot poorly ..if they get good guard play they would be a lot better
Box score for the Saint Louis Billikens vs. SIU Edwardsville Cougars NCAAM game from November 18, 2015 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

Ironically, N'Diaye and Fall both are from the same country and the same city. They are both from Dakar, Senegal, but before today, they had never met each other.

      Another FIRST...
UC-Irvine started the tallest lineup in college basketball history...

      their starters were 7'-6", 7'-2", 6'-10", 6'-10", 6'-8"

they might not use this lineup in a DI game but tonight they are playing DIII Chapman and the halftime score is UC-Irvine 34 - Chapman 26
Box score for the UC Irvine Anteaters vs. Chapman Panthers NCAAM game from December 18, 2015 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

edit- UC-Irvine ended up beating Chapman 65-51 with their starters scoring 30 pts, but Chapman's starters scoring 45 pts.
betcha UCI doesn't use this lineup in their next couple games.. (they have Kansas coming up)
