  • Game Day Luncheon

I just got home from the Bradley Game Day Luncheon today (Friday, Nov. 13). There were no outside guest speakers, or visiting coaches or dignitaries at today's luncheon, but it was still one of the best and most upbeat I've been to.
First I want to mention that the meal that was served was great, so kudos to the Bradley catering and food people.
There were approximately 400+ people there. A great turnout!
After lunch, Dave Snell emceed the speaking program, and he did a great job as he always does.
The first speaker was Chris Reynolds. He talked a little about how he came to be hired at Bradley, and how happy and grateful he and his wife are to be here. He talked a little about how he decided on hiring Brian Wardle, and that he thinks he is the perfect coach for Bradley. And he thanked the fans for their loyal and gracious support of Bradley and promised good things to come.

Dr. Reynolds introduced the President of the Bradley Braves Club, Rick Vandeveer, who spoke very briefly. The Braves Club sponsors the game Day Luncheons, along with Busey Bank.

Then Dave introduced Coach Wardle. He talked about why he chose to come to Bradley, and how much he appreciates the fan support, and assured the fans that his players also recognize the support and respect that the fans give them, and that they will play hard to earn that support and respect.
He then talked a little about the Ball State team, and emphasized that they are a more experienced team with several good shooters and some bulk inside.
He revealed that the game plan emphasizes rebounding, especially offensive rebounding, which the coach believes we can do successfully against them. Other areas of emphasis to the players include solid 1 on 1 defense to disrupt dribble moves, and guarding their shooters tightly. He praised his players a bit, saying he has "great young men" who "love Bradley" and who understand what a privilege it is to play for Bradley. I saw a lot of people there I know, including several posters.

    A couple more tidbits-
Today is the birthday of Interim President Stan Liberty, who was at the Luncheon. Happy Birthday President Liberty!
Both Dave Reynolds and Kirk Wessler were at the Luncheon.
And, one of the "Door Prize" winners was our own poster Lefty. Congratulations Lefty!

Good summary DC.....the only thing I would add would be the honoring of Coach Stowell tonight. Snell, BW, and CR mentioned that....Stowell is a fan favorite....and thanks to him by the way since he drew my name out
