Mike Thomas fired...has a lot to do with the turmoil they have in football and the lawsuits on player mistreatment..
and even tho Thomas was not found to have been responsible directly for any of that or any "wrongdoing"
- he's the captain of the ship & "a change was needed".

ordinarily - as far as actual athletic prowess - that's a lateral move..but Tulane has been gobbled up by the bigger American Conference - and even tho their FB program is the bottom of the barrel in that league - they now have numerous advantages...
they play in warm southern environment, the job likely pays more, and greater potential

as an interesting followup to the Mizzou protests...now the state legislators are doing some of their own form of protesting...
Protesting is fully OK but....they are considering legislation that revokes the state taxpayer paid scholarships to students who boycott or strike and who do NOT play in games or athletic contests (much to the financial loss of the University & state) as their form of protest. I guess fair is fair...
you have your right to protest but not on my dime!
In other words - they can't have it both ways - they can't accept a scholarship TO PLAY then choose NOT TO PLAY.

I guess they found yet another new way to screw it up...they are following the JG-playbook - & have their own little closed search process, ignoring any and all input or opinions from fans & boosters...even sending signals for the fans & boosters to shut up and go away

fallout from Mizzou caving to the "gimme, gimme, gimme" protesters...
freshman enrollment for this fall is down 25%, massive revenue losses, and thousands of donors, contributors, benefactors, alumni, and advertisers have yanked their giving, their contributions, and their money...

Mizzou clearly made the wrong choice caving to the protesters...it is now costing them TENS of MILLIONS of dollars...
but I am sure they are thinking - who cares, we'll just send the bill to the taxpayers!!

Donations to their Athletic Department were down 72% over the same period after the football season compared with 1 year ago, and according to emails obtained it is all due to the fiasco with their football players boycotting games and the campus protesters being coddled. The University fired their President and Chancellor to try to mollify the protesters, and chose to side with them and make the campus a haven for radicals.

Well, many told the University admin they were making a mistake...
and now they are paying the price...

Now SEVEN dormitories are shuttered and empty due to lower enrollment
