  • MVC Exhibitions today

    Indiana State is playing DePauw
the game is currently in the 2nd half & with 11 minutes to go
Indiana State 64 - DePauw 49 - Khristian Smith has 19 - nobody else in double figures

    Wichita currently hosting Hawaii Pacific
Shockers up 23-15 a bit more than midway thru 1st half..one of their message board threads claims this is how easy they'd stomp Bradley this year!
(LOL- remember we lost there last year by only 3 and led at half when we played them in Peoria)

    Missouri State plays William Jewell
MSU is up 27-22 late in 1st half with MSU not hitting a single 3 yet and struggling a bit...

Evansville hosting Wabash - just about to start

    Drake hosting McKendree this evening

Northern Iowa had a closed "secret" scrimmage today vs. Wisconsin
Wisconsin reportedly "won" and we know they led 32-24 at half courtesy of one of the Wisconsin players who tweeted this picture of the halftime scoreboard
(it'll probably get removed since I think this is a violation)

    ISU plays Southern Indiana tomorrow
The official 2024-25 Men's Basketball schedule for the Illinois State University Redbirds

    SIU plays Maryville Monday nite

    First game is over
Indiana State 91 - DePauw 71 - Khristian Smith had 21 for Sycamores, and InSU outrebounded 50-34
Only one of their newcomers (Van Scyoc 13) scored well

..and mighty Wichita leads by only 10 just one min before half vs. Hawaii Pacific

Wisconsin's Zach Bohannon needs to get a new cell phone.
I am constantly amazed at the poor quality of video by some cell phones.

Wichita pulled away big time late in the 1st then 2nd half-
they beat Hawaii Pacific 91-57- Grady 13, Baker 11, Taylor 11, Shamet 10
Shockers had 14 turnovers - almost exactly what Bradley had in the Edgewood exhibition -
Wichita went to the FT line 31 times - hope this isn't what we're going to see this year

Missouri State 88 - William Jewell 62- Camyn Boone 19 pts

Evansville 51 - Wabash 36 with 17 min to go
Balentine 14 pts on 13 shots

And that was without Fred VanVleet playing. Not to mention 3 walkons got tons of minutes. The 14 turnovers don't worry me. Ron had 3 of then. He won't do that when Fred is running the point instead of him.

Shocks won't miss a beat this year if they stay healthy.

I also like the fact that they score 91 and their leading scorer had 13 points. Balance!

DePaul played an exhibition in their on-campus McGrath Arena...
it seats about 3500 but their reported attendance today is 1230 -- that is bad...
if they can't get more than 1230 into their on-campus arena then that big downtown arena could sound pretty hollow...

You are probably referring to my quote where I commented that the guys on the floor could start for Bradley. It was four freshman and a senior. It was more about the inexperience on the court then it was about competition against the Braves. No disrespect intended.

and none really taken - we know we're gonna be the punching bag for the rest of the Valley - just hope our guys use it to learn to punch back

                    Balentine 20 pts/8 asst, Mockevicius 11 pts/12 reb - Aces had 15 turnovers

hey -- Just heard from David Molinari's family that David IS ON SCHOLARSHIP at DePaul for his senior season, so let Dave Reynolds know to add David to his list of DI scholarship players!

one other note- past BU recruit & Peoria Central star Bobo Drummond will play for University of Southern Indiana today when they face ISU in an exhibition

                        Midway thru the 1st half:
                        Illinois State 28 - Southern Indiana 24
For USI - former Bradley recruit Travis Britt just hit a three and Chicagoan George Edwards has 10 pts on 5-6-
                        For ISU -- Akoon-Purcell has 9 & ISU hitting 2-10 on 3-pointers (? Their Achilles heel?)

Likewise U of I is about midway thru the 1st half
                        Illini 19 - Illinois-Springfield 17
U of I hitting just 14% from the arc

ISU now pulling a way a little but getting a good test from a good DII
8 minutes left, ISU is ahead 68-57 - they've improved their 3-pt shootig a bit but still only 4-18 (22%)

Ilini also pulling ahead - now 69-55 with about 11 minutes to go - balanced scoring
