  • FINAL: Bradley 84 St. Joseph's 65

Bradley's second exhibition game will be Monday, Nov. 9, at 7:00 PM at Carver Arena against St. Joseph's College. There will be no TV or video stream for this game, but it will be on radio on WMBD 1470.
We will also have the Bradleyfans.com chat room open for fans to discuss-

The St. Joseph's College Pumas are a Division II school in Rensselaer, Indiana. They start their season with an exhibition game at Butler on Saturday night, Nov. 7, before coming to Peoria to play Bradley on Monday, Nov. 9.

They are a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, which is consistently one of the best Division II conferences in the country. They finished last season with a record of 6-22 overall, and 3-15 in the GLVC. They lost their top scorer and rebounder from last season, but return all their other starters and most of their production from last year.
Almost all the players on their roster are from Indiana, but they do have a kid from the Peoria area- 6'9" senior Jordan Seele, who played at IVC High School, and at ICC for Coach Tony Wysinger. Seele was a starter for St. Joseph's last season as a junior and averaged 7.4 ppg and 4.2 rpg. He will likely be a starter this year.
Other starters from last season who seem likely to be starters this year are (last year's stats in parentheses):
Nathan Tidwell (10.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg)
Dawson Gore (8.4 ppg and 42% from three)
David Hill (1.8 ppg, team-leading 3.2 assists per game)
Jonah Coble (started 9 games last year as a freshman, 8.0 ppg, 39% from three)
    Roster- http://athletics.saintjoe.edu/roster.aspx?path=mbball

This team will be quite a bit more athletic than the Edgewood team was, though St. Joseph's does not have much size, other than 6'9" Jordan Seele.
Overall, it should be a little tougher test for the young Bradley team, but still a game Bradley should win..

Braves by 15. Better oponent, but the Bradley freshmen will not be as geeked up. More warmup baskets made. More relaxed. More confident. Less offensive errors. Hands up on defense. Smoother game. Go Braves!!

I will repeat my game 1 prediction 67-50 - is Dave Reynolds still doing his predictions in the pre-game articles?

73-53 Braves by 20 in a much cleaner played ball game with less mistakes thus driving the BU hysteria to greater heights heading into the season opener!

Important learning opportunity for this young team. How will they react to blowing out their first opponent? Will they rest on that and crap out a dud in game two or will Wardle get it through to them that they still have a LONG way to go? My bet is on the latter.

I agree. The opponent will be a little tougher, but with as many as 10 or 11 players in a real competition for playing time (now that Donte Thomas will be back), I believe we'll continue to see the effort and teamwork we saw in the Edgewood game, but hopefully we cut down on turnovers.

of course I'd like to cut down turnovers - but we had 15 in the very first college game for all those freshmen -
I don't think that's all that bad.....we averaged about 15 turnovers last year!

That was my first thought when I heard that we had 15 turnovers in our first game and with all freshman except KB. Last years team avg. that many or at least close including an exhibition loss.

This team will make mistakes but will only improve.

Yes, in the only exhibition game played last year against Augustana, Bradley had 18 turnovers with a much more experienced lineup. They played only 2 freshmen and one sophomore.

I am thinking we set a lot of different freshman records, although I wonder if any of our freshmen will top Hersey's freshman scoring record ...

I think this one will be closer simply because I'd argue Edgewood is the single worst team I've ever seen Bradley play.

I predict we win 66-58, and our lead ranges from 5-15 pts most of the game. Another big game for Barker who is the leading rebounder and POY, and Van Bree is the scoring leader with 14.

I assume you are meaning Freshman of the Year in the MVC?

I meant Player of the Game...and have absolutely no idea what I was thinking when I typed POY
