Was this the player who assaulted her roommate/teammate in her apartment that led to her dismissal from the team? If so, I would not want someone like this at Bradley regardless of their talent.

First- Neither I nor anyone else have ever said she should have been taken back on the team. She was dismissed quicker than just about any other player I can remember in any sport at Bradley (less than 48 hours after she was arrested), even though, the charges were all dismissed. Bradley never tried to bury it or dragged it out like they have done with almost every other similar incident with "we'll let the legal system play out" or "we are gathering information" excuses.

I don't know the entire story with Butts, but if she was guilty of a crime or serious team violation, she deserved to be dismissed. But recall that we had men's basketball player just last year who was actually found guilty of domestic assault, didn't we? His charges were never dropped or pleaded down. Somehow, the administration felt it was necessary to request delay after delay so he could remain eligible his entire senior season just so Bradley could go 3-15 and finish in 10th place again.

Read my question again, I never implied that. We're likely in agreement on this as I believe both the men's and women's players should have been immediately suspended until either a legal or university judicial resolution.

We agree, then. I have always been consistent in saying that I expect a high level of character representing Bradley in any sport, and I expect consistent discipline regarding violations.

              Sharonda buts

Coach Brookes dismissed her immediately after collecting all information regarding the incident. This should have happened on other accounts with regard to physical assault. Coach Brookes is a disciplinarian. That incident was a violation of many rules and he put his foot down right away. Some things don't need to be waited on through the legal process. We must uphold the Bradley standard.

Former Bradley player, now at SIUE, Shronda Butts, who was the preseason selection for Player of the Year, was just named the 2015-16 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year.
SIUE's Shronda Butts was named the 2015-16 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year while the Cougars' CoCo Moore and Belmont's Sally McCabe shared the OVC Defensive Player of the Year award. Belmont's Darby Maggard was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year while Coach of the Year honors went to UT Martin's Kevin McMillan.

                Congratulations to Shronda.

Also, congratulations to former Bradley head coach Paula Buscher. Her SIUE Cougars finished with a 12-4 conference record, good for 2nd in the OVC West Division. They start in their OVC Tournament as a #3 seed.-
