but we probably aren't going to see any activity on 2017 targets til at least spring

2019 Michael Moreno who has already visited Bradley & gotten an offer - has "a slightly more athletic version of Alec Peters"
written all over him....we need to stay on the kid and hope for the best!

Another one of Illinois' top recruiting targets has spurned them. They recently lost out on top 2017 Illinois recruit Jordan Goodwin, who committed to St. Louis, and today, the top 2018 recruit in the state of Missouri, 5-star big man Carte'Are Gordon, also committed to St. Louis and spurned the Illini.
New St. Louis Head Coach Travis Ford is building a nice program in St. Louis with far higher level recruits than Jim Crews was able to land.

Saint Louis University just beat Chicago State who lost an 8pm game in Peoria last Saturday (83-4 - then had to travel to St. Louis and play a 2pm game the very next day - literally having only a total of about 12 hours between leaving our arena and having to be at their arena for another game.

That game was an ugly 45-43 loss by Chicago State with bad shooting all around.
That gave Saint Louis just their 3rd win this season (3-6) mixed in with several 20 point and even three 30-point blowout losses.
Most fans are willing to give new head coach Travis Ford some time to rebuild but already a few fans are unhappy and claiming that no matter how bad Jim Crews' last couple years were, they still weren't this bad and that maybe Crews deserved a little more patience.

I find this all interesting because of what we've been through - but just 2 years ago they were coming off a 27-7 season (13-3 in A10), and had won 26 & 28 games each of the two prior years. Add the fact that some of the media seems to not like Travis Ford - and now just 9 games into his stint at SLU, you have some pretty harsh coverage and some bitter comments on the Billikens' message board.

In an area rivalry game, Saint Louis hosts SIU tonight - and Barry Hinson is also coming off an ugly game - a loss to Sam Houston State in which Barry was pretty ticked and didn't hold back and sounds like he's promising some lineup changes using his own interesting style....

"SIU men's basketball coach Barry Hinson pulled no punches at Tuesday's
press conference to discuss the upcoming game against Saint Louis.

He has not been happy with the Salukis in recent games and made it clear
that he was ready to try something new.

???We gotta shake up the lineup,??? he told reporters after a home loss to Sam
Houston State. ???I think it??™s time. We??™ve got some guys that are really
comfortable. I can??™t imagine we??™ll start the same lineup against St. Louis on
Wednesday.???

In a 5-5 season where the same five have started every game, Hinson could
pull out a whole new lineup Wednesday night at SIU Arena.
"I am going to pick a starting five guys out there that I know are going to be
enthusiastic and will give us great, great energy," Hinson said. "If they aren't
going to do that, then it may look like a hockey game for a while. We may
have guys coming over the rail. We are going to play guys who want to play."

we've recruited kids from La Lumiere - a basketball "prep school" in LaPorte, Indiana...
but if anyone is interested...La Lumiere plays tonight at 6pm on ESPN2, available on most people's cable systems.
Their head coach, Shane Heirman, is the brother of a past Bradley basketball player

La Lumiere won 85-63 over New Albany...
the best player on the floor was New Albany's junior Romeo Langford...but La Lumiere has a lot of DI guys...
Tyger Campbell is a good PG, Jaren Jackson is a 6-9 big man going to Michigan State and Brian Bowen is a 5-Star undecided kid & Jacob Epperson & Kevin Zhang - two raw but talented 6-11 kids

Don't know if we are recruiting him, but one of the top juco recruits for 2018 is Devon Andrews, who is a freshman at Pratt CC,
& who played his high school ball at Lorain (OH) HS where his head coach was ex-Bradley Brave Andy Bastock.
Andrews is putting up some pretty good numbers, and was just named NJCAA National Juco Player of the Week

Some update of names on these lists...

2017- not sure who we are still targeting, might have to wait to see if any additional scholarships available
-Romon Douglas-Watkins has yet to play this yr due to injury, word is that he's doing well & hoping to play before the end of the season.
-Yaakema Rose - 5-9 PG won the MVP at Pekin Tournament for #1 ranked Springfield Lanphier, does not appear to have a DI offer yet.
-Romelo Burrell - a little undersized as a 6-6 fwd has only a UIC offer, but UIC is oversigned X 1 for next yr so I doubt that offer still stands
-Michael Tucker - at John A. Logan juco - not played since early December - was said to be gone due to emergency in his family but no word since what's going on

2018- not known how many scholarships we might have
- Kenny Strawbridge- Rockford Lutheran is 8-7 but Strawbridge has been hampered a couple games due to a knee injury
- Gaven Pinkley - avg 22 ppg, 1 rpg but again smaller school opponents

and just tonight, I was checking on some juco results (Davante Cooper, at Tyler juco, has put up only 2 pts & 8 rebs in his last 2 games combined)
...but Tyler just got beat by San Jacinto juco and they have a kid named Corey Davis...
Corey Davis is a 6-2 SG (a sophomore, Class of 2017) who averages almost 20 ppg and shoots almost 50% from 3-pt (45-97)
San Jacinto is 16-0, with only 2 of their games being closer than 12 pts - they just beat previously undefeated Tyler 74-66 & NW FL State 94-77
otherwise their average margin of victory in 16 games is 23 points per game! LINK
and Davis is their leader...he is a prolific scorer and is unsigned and I hope we keep in touch with the kid!

Past Bradley Brave star Tony Bennett just signed with a new pro team before Christmas in the top league in Mexico...

He's just played 13 games but in that span he's averaging 14.5, 3.5 rebs, 2 stls, and a team leading 4.8 assists

Well, finally some news on a NEW NAME to add to our list!

There are reports that Bradley has been over to view and are interested in ..
Mabor Majok, Class of 2020 (currently just a freshman) who plays for Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, IN (just northeast of Indianapolis)
..and who plays AAU for Indiana Elite (the program run and coached by the father of Bradley assistant Drew Adams).

Mabor Majok is a 6-11 Center...who coincidentally is a Sudanese national...
and he is already being ranked inside the TOP 20 players NATIONALLY! (#1 - LINK
(higher than Manual's Adam Miller who is #26 and already getting offers)
