This year's ISC Smoker

The annual "Smoker" that was perennially held at the Lariat Club in the past but more recently downtown at the Gateway Building & Cornerstone Bldg.-
will be held this year at the Riverfront Gateway Building at 5:30 p.m. on October 8, 2015.

The program will include PJ Star sports writers, Bradley University Coach Brian
Wardle and University of Illinois Coach John Groce.

It is sponsored by the Independent Sports Club of Central Illinois
Despite the nickname "Smoker" (denoting that many in attendance used to freely smoke cigars) there is little or no smoking any more and only outside the doors

In 2011 it was at the Cornerstone when the Lariat Club was closed for renovation

Reminder- The ISC Smoker is this coming Thursday night!

Yeah- tickets do not go on sale to the public - all the tickets are available privately but over the years I have had people who work for major companies that support the ISC offer extra tickets...
and I should get a pretty good report from a fan who I know is going.

This year's Smoker has probably gotten less lead-up publicity than any I can remember...I really haven't heard a thing about it..
Pretty much the only mention of the event is what's here on BradleyFans, and the tiny mention that a pair of tickets to the Smoker were in the catalog of the recent Bradley Auction.

Lucky me! I did get a ticket from my boss. We will be Table 12. This is my first ever Smoker event and I can't wait!!

I think there are around 12 that participate in the wheels club for Bradley. Certainly less than years ago....Illinois gets participation from various areas of the state whereas Bradley's is strictly local.


I know many of the universities are getting away from it and going to a car allowance...I don't know if that is because lack of participation by dealers or the universities making that decision....but I know of at least 2 previous coaches that are now at BCS schools who bought their own vehicles....
