  • Chuck Westendorf

Some older Bradley fans might remember Chuck Westendorf.
He played basketball for Bradley from 1966-1968, and has also been part of multiple IHSA State Championships with Manual & Peoria Central as assistant basketball coach....and active in many local camps & other endeavors.
In fact - just a year ago he was interviewed in the "Where are they now" column.

Anyway - Chuck's grandson is a 5th grader and competed in the IESA golf championship yesterday, finishing 2nd overall -- only one stroke back.
He's certainly one of the best elementary school age golfers in the state and likely the best for his age.
He shot a 72 at Kellogg. No other 5th grader shot under 96.

Actually might be one of the best in his age group in the country.

I have seen Weston play several times and he is an amazing golfer for his age. I saw him play the last hole yesterday and he would have tied the 8th grade champion if he had not hit his approach shot into the water on 18. His next shot from the drop area almost went in . Just missed by inches. Had it gone in it would have been an outstanding par and would have tied the winner. He's got a big future in this game.

btw- Weston is also the great grandson of Dick van Scyoc, as Chuck married Dick's daughter.

He got beat by a 14 year old kid who is about a foot taller. Weston is such a nice, down to earth kid who loves to practice as much as he loves to play. Coach will make sure he keeps a good head on his shoulders. As long as he doesn't loose interest the sky is the limit.

Agree 100% he loves the game don't think losing interest is going to be a problem.
