a nice article on recruiting by Sam Maniscalco
just a clip...
"First and foremost, recruiting is a business....Coaches keep jobs only by winning and want players who can help them do that."
College coaches put a premium on bigs first and then the difference makers who are most prepared physically and mentally
All college coaches make mistakes and not one of them has been correct on every player they've recruited and land
At the beginning, I was interested in any school that was interested in me -- and I entertained all of them. After a few months in the process, I created criteria that I wanted in a school. The top three things on my list were head coach, current roster, and location.
The final aspect was location. ....
Every player is different and goes about their recruiting process in a different way."

Funny! Nice to see the staff and admins having a little fun.
BTW- fall recruiting period just opened up this morning, so after weeks of "quiet period", the staff will be spending a lot of time on the road recruiting for the next few months.

but neither one has offered...
His next tier of favorites are Nebraska & DePaul - who have offered...but this article says Kezo is clearly more interesting in the big school offers...

He is an outstanding shooter and since his coach is our assistant Drew Adams' father - I am sure our guys know about him.......
Gelon shot 60% from 3-pt range in limited action

Grant Gelon is a poster boy for what happens to mid-major caliber kids that aim too high...
he bought into the lie that it's in his best interest to be a deep backup at a big school rather than play and possibly develop into a star at a mid-major...
It's the same lesson we see all the time from Matt Roth to Peyton Allen
he's already wasted a year and will now potentially waste another a juco...
and he got "recruited over" with his scholarship yanked so it could be used for someone else
I don't propose that I know what's best for those kids- that's what they have to decide - but many would have been stars at a mid-major - like Colt Ryan, Seth Tuttle, Fred Van Vleet & Ron Baker, Doug McDermott, Blake Ahern, Cellus...
a different interesting take on coaches running players off
