This is great - nice to see that conditioning and strength are a priority this year under Coach Wardle

also nice that the schedule is and has been for some time - all set, so we can begin putting events & games on the calendar...
REMEMBER - ITOO Supper September 17!
it wasn't til Sept. last year that all the games and exhibitions were known - and even then most were revealed here long before the actual public release

have heard & seen some good things about the 3-point shooting of a couple of our new guys....
My prediction - we will have someone this coming year that WILL shoot better than 36% from the arc!
just for reference, here are the best 3-point shooters we've had the past four years, nobody has exceeded 35.6%, which is barely higher than the national average:
2011-12
Walt Lemon 34.5%
DSE 34.0%
Jalen Crawford 32.6%
Taylor Brown 32.5%
2012-13
Will Egolf 35.6%
Walt Lemon 33.0%
Jake Eastman 31.1%
DSE 27.9%
2013-14
Ka'Darryl Bell 35.6%
Auston Barnes 34.1%
Omari Grier 32.2%
Walt Lemon 29.0%
2014-15
Ka'Darryl Bell 35.6%
Auston Barnes 34.8%
Omari Grier 31.8%
Warren Jones 29.6%
Josh Cunningham 23.4%

Dave Reynolds tweeted that he was at a Bradley basketball workout & practice today...but no article about it yet...
would love to hear what his thoughts are.....
the last few years we had those columns every week about how great the newcomers were, deep, talented, light years better, best frontcourt since Donald Reese, best recruiting class since Cellus, loaded with "difference-makers", etc..

interesting, though, that I can't find it in the Peoria newspaper...it is in the Carbondale (IL) paper...
"Bradley
After a furiously busy spring in which new coach Brian Wardle replaced eight players with eligibility remaining and senior Auston Barnes with eight freshmen and a transfer, Bradley was hit with another defection at summer's end...
The Bradley scholarship roster for 2015-16 is now painfully young -- eight freshmen, one sophomore and two seniors. Some of the more promising first-year players during summer workouts included 5-11 point guard Joel Okafor, 6-8 forwards Luuk van Bree and Scottie James and 6-3 combo guard Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye. Sophomore forward Donte Thomas also showed improvement before undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in July. He is
expected to be fully recovered before the start of fall workouts.
The program's nearly complete facelift has allowed Wardle to establish a new culture at BU, which was 46-86 during Geno Ford's four years as head coach. The 35-year-old coach, who won 48 games the past two years at Green Bay, has preached hard work, passion and intensity to his young team.

not a lot to say about Callum Barker, Davante Cooper, Antoine Pittman, Peter Hanley, Ronnie Suggs and Alex Foster..

Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye is interviewed at about 0:50 into this video - and also some comments in the text.
and a great/packed turnout for the first pep rally for all the new students - I don't recall that previously on the 1st day students are back...amazing!
Coach Wardle & team getting students fired up
and I think DLO (along with other basketball players Donte Thomas, Jackson Kane, Pete Hanley, Davante Cooper,
Antoine Pittman, Joel Okafor, Callum Barker, and Luuk van Bree) already likes college life at Bradley!

as far as hearing anything about recruiting - we probably won't hear much now - except possibly a visit - as it is currently a "Quiet Period" as defined by NCAA.
During a Quiet Period, coaches cannot make any off-campus contact with a prospective student-athlete. He's still allowed to write letters, call/text and email the prospect, who is allowed to make official and unofficial visits to campus.
Starting Sept. 9 begins a "Recruiting Period" all the way until April - except a few dates in November (10-13) & December (24-26) - which are a Dead Period. The Recruiting Period is when the coaches can make off-campus contact and view recruits with certain limitations.
A Dead Period means coaches are only allowed to make contact with recruits through email, calls/texts or letters. The recruit may take a campus visit but he cannot meet with any of the coaching staff during a dead period.
Let's hope we hear good news soon...
oh, and people see a difference already -

Check this out - a school whose entire enrollment is 13,000 undergrads - drawing 4,500 on Day-1 of the new school year for their pep rally!
....and also that column has a little bit on how to get the fans back from an AD at a school that has BOOSTED their home attendance by 300% since he got there in 2009
