  • NCAA attendance figures for 2014-15

Contrary to what some were saying -
attendance was not down everywhere....and it wasn't down in the MVC (except for at Bradley, which accounted for virtually all of the drop in the MVC)

and the headline of this NCAA report is...
"Men's basketball attendance numbers up slightly in 2014-15"
NCAA men’s basketball saw a slight bump in overall attendance for the 2014-15 season as 32,510,647 fans came to watch student-athletes in Divisions I, II and III. Compared to last year, 480 more fans attended games, making this past season the eighth highest attendance in NCAA history. The record of 33,396,316 fans in a single season was set in 2007-08. In Division I, attendance totaled 27,422,615 for the year. Although it was down slightly from a season ago, the attendance is the ninth highest total in history. However, the NCAA tournament total attendance increased.

Most places held steady - but Bradley (as expected) dropped all the way down to #94 after decades of being in the 40-50 range with near-10,000 numbers...
Time to get the fans back and I feel good about the efforts thus far by Dr. Chris Reynolds & Coach Wardle...

So this may well be the lasting legacy of the past 4-5 years - is that Bradley single-handedly accounted for the entire drop that the Missouri Valley showed.
If Bradley's drop in attendance is removed - the Valley held steady despite pretty poor years at several key schools like ISU, SIU, and MSU..

Recall - we are only 5-6 year since record home attendance!

Bradley can make some strange moves. They fire a coach who has a record of 32-3 and who's team give the eventual NCAA winner their closest game in the tournament out in Ogden, UT and they fire a coach who's team has record home attendance.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Is anyone else surprised that Illinois was 15th?
