The rules were recently changed...so that the true beginning of each basketball season is defined as...
"42 days before the first scheduled contest" - Bylaw 17
Our first scheduled contest is Friday November 13 vs. Ball State...
So... the official opening day is practice is Friday Oct. 2...
..this does NOT intersect Homecoming Week, which is Sept. 20-26, 2015 - but maybe it's better that way so there's no concern about drawing people away from other homecoming events.
and in that 42 day interval - NCAA allows 30 practice days. (even one minute of practice with one player counts as a practice day)
(Teams taking foreign tours are exceptions)
I hope the coach & AD have a "Midnite Madness"-type even right away - either that Friday or Saturday (tho perhaps not at midnight) - so the fans can instantly get to see all the new guys...
