New Jersey Institute of technology, the only independent team in Division I basketball, has joined a conference for 2015-16. They will be joining the Atlantic Sun Conference as a replacement for Northern Kentucky, who recently left to join the Horizon League.
They will be a bit geographically removed from the rest of their conference members. The current members of the Atlantic Sun are: North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, South Carolina Upstate, Lipscomb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, and Stetson.
