Saluki mascot kidnapped

Costume for one of SIU's Saluki mascots - "Grey Dawg" - valued in excess of $4000 - is missing and presumed taken/stolen some time between Tuesday at 10am and Wednesday morning.
Southern Illinois University athletics is offering a reward for information leading to his safe return.

no success locating the stolen costume...and it remains missing...
but a good SIU alum has donated to get a new Grey Dawg suit

funny - that someone suggests on the IU message board that they "microchip" the new suit in case it is stolen...

but that really wouldn't help much at all, would it?
Implanting a chip would only help confirm the identity if the suit were found but that would be obvious by the appearance of the suit - a microchip wouldn't be necessary.
