Max Bielfeldt chooses Indiana

Max transfers to Indiana-
IU got deeper in the post Monday night, when Michigan transfer forward Max Bielfeldt committed to the Hoosiers.
Last year at Michigan, Max had his best year by far, 5.1 ppg and 3.6 rpg in about 15 mpg. His first 2 years, he barely played and averaged about 1 ppg.
I wish Max the best of luck, but from following Tom Crean's teams for years, he does not run his offense through his post players, unless the have NBA-caliber talent. Nearly all his teams' scoring in recent years has come from their guards. But now this year, Indiana has landed a 4-star and a 5-star freshman big men. I am sure Max knew that, but I just do not see Max getting as much playing time as he did at UM, or putting up as many points as he did at Michigan.

Article from Indiana Rivals site about Max-
It is a premium article, so most may not be able to access it. Here are some points-
Indiana added frontcourt depth and championship experience with the commitment of Michigan transfer Max Bielfeldt.
IU also added a player who says he's ready to work.
"I'm not sure yet. I know I'll put in the work and if I put in the work, I feel I can earn minutes. It's a good team. I know nothing's going to be given to me and I'll have to earn it," Bielfeldt said.
"The big things Indiana offered were the Kelley School of Business, which is a great school, and obviously the basketball team is going to be really good," he said.
"I think I fit in well with the guys, fit in the system and fit in with what coach Crean wants to do."
IU needed frontcourt depth after the dismissal of 6-foot-9 Hanner Mosquera-Perea and 6-foot-7 Devin Davis.
"I think I'll fit in well being a bigger guy who can play inside and can shoot a little outside," Bielfeldt said.
Indiana has one scholarship remaining for the 2015-16 season. The Hoosiers are one of the top schools recruiting 5-star 7-footer Thon Maker, who said he will finish his credits to be college eligible in December.

Indiana expects one of their incoming recruits, Thomas Bryant, a powerful, possibly one-and-done 5-Star big man to take the bulk of the minutes in the low post and Max is projected as his backup.
Sure, there may be injury and maybe Max get more chance but he's also stepping into an extremely uncertain spot and Tom Crean is known to sell incoming recruits on playing a ton then reneging on such promises - see Matt Roth and quite a few others who got Creaned

Plus, if they land the other 5-star big man they are still pursuing, seven footer Thon Maker, it makes minutes even more scarce for Max. Even he acknowledges that in the Rivals article I posted above...
"I'm not sure yet (regarding his expectations). I know I'll put in the work and if I put in the work, I feel I can earn minutes. It's a good team. I know nothing's going to be given to me and I'll have to earn it"

he will have a good game or two and everyone will say that proves he made the right choice...
Matt Roth had one good game and everyone claimed it proved he was a Big Ten talent and made the right choice...
whatever..FWIW, Jordan Swopshire had one good game - so did TCS

NCAA MBB Translation: kid cheers loudest from the bench and won't complain to the press when he is just a bench warmer...
Kind of like being named 'Miss Personality' at a Beauty Contest....
Wouldn't be surprised if Max becomes leading rebounder during IU's pregame warm up drills...BUilding for the Future
