Ex-Bradley assistant Patrick Beilein is lead candidate to get hired...

Le Moyne College is a small DII (2871 undergrad enrollment) in Syracuse, NY, with a respectable basketball history - although over the past decade they have been repeatedly around .500.
Two current DI head coaches made the jump to DI after their jobs as head coach at Le Moyne (John Beilein & current Bucknell coach Dave Paulsen)
Lemoyne's signature basketball win is an early season upset of TOP 25-ranked Syracuse in a 2009 exhibition game.
The head basketball coaching spot is open because the current coach of 15 years, Steve Evans, is being ...
"promoted to Associate Director"
but if you read between the lines it actually sounds more like they are ready for a change and want to do better than perennially around .500.
Pat Beilein might seem like the natural-born frontrunner to get hired at Le Moyne given his father's history there....but there seems to be more than meets the eye - this would be his 5th job in the past 3 years...and 6th in the past four.
Pat was Bradley's Director of Basketball Operations in 2011-12-
but he spent only 1 year here then left for the head coaching spot at West Virginia Wesleyan University.
Pat's record there was 32-27...but he then left in 2014 for a Utah Jazz staffer job that seemed oddly like a step downward (he interviewed for the head coaching job at DI Marist but did not land that one) - especially for guys wanting to move up the ladder in the college coaching realm.
He then left to do some independent scouting...
Seems odd he'd leave just as the program was doing a bit better, then a year later look again for another DII head coaching spot.

I like Beilein. He showed some enthusiasm for an assistant last year, which was something that I didn't see much from the others.Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

"Saxton's scholarship was supposed to be a full athletic scholarship over his final three years at Le Moyne, and the school would also help pay for his Master's degree at Syracuse"
The kid believed his scholarship at LeMoyne was guaranteed for the full 4 years, plus that after graduation, LeMoyne was going to pay for him to then go to grad school at Syracuse. But, every kid who signs scholarship papers at an NCAA school is informed that the athletic scholarships are on a year-by-year basis, not guaranteed for 4 years. They can be renewed or can be cancelled each year. Furthermore, there is no way that LeMoyne would pay for him to go on after graduation and attend Syracuse for grad school. No school would ever do that. It would be a clear NCAA rules violation.
What happened to the kid sounds cruel when written the way the writer did the article. But that kind of thing happens at every school that hands out athletic scholarships. It is hard to blame Pat Beilein for revoking his scholarship and giving it to another recruit, since the kid sat out his entire freshman year (while on scholarship) with a heart problem, and there was no way Beilein could know if he'd ever be cleared to play again. IMO, it's just an unfortunate situation, like with hundreds of kids each year who are forced to transfer.
