Matt Esche will be accepting the head coaching spot at UAB for Cross Country.
They do not have a men's cross country program so this is completely new....their track coach has been running XC for women but they are hiring to get a separate men's head coach
this is even further proof UAB may NOT be planning to reinstate football - because when they dropped football - they had to start up some other sport to fulfill
the NCAA requirements.
"NCAA rules require Division I schools to sponsor a minimum of 14 Division I sports, and particularly in this case, a minimum of six men’s sports.
After disbanding the football program, UAB was left with only five men’s sports."
