The Braves just got a commitment from 6'10" Davante Cooper of Atlanta.
He is a 2015 recruit, and had offers from Tennessee, Tulane, and Central Florida (according to Dave Reynolds)
It appears Davante Cooper is originally from Atlanta, but moved around and played this past year at Max My Game prep academy, affiliated with West Oaks Academy of Orlando, Florida.
He has also played AAU ball with the Georgia Tornadoes.

Six-foot-eight power forward Davante Cooper of the Tornadoes is a 2014 kid who is going to head to prep school. If what he showed on Saturday is an indicator of what to expect, his recruiting will pick up pretty quickly. Cooper is skinny, but he is extremely mobile, quick off his feet and chases down rebounds all over the floor.
He has remained below the radar mostly, but there is one mention found with a Google search of a Davante Cooper at West Oak Prep in Orlando.

Definitely looks like a developmental player, someone that needs to add weight and muscle to truly be effective. However it is impossible to coach someone to be taller and he's already got that. He won't have to worry about being stuck on the end of the bench like Wells did because we only have one other big. Hopefully he can learn quickly, contribute quickly and be a really solid center. Decent addition at this point, make him better Coach W!
Davante Cooper played this past season at a prep academy named MMG (Max My Game). It is the official 5th year prep school affiliated with West Oaks Academy in Orlando.

They feature seven-footer Nikola Scekic, six-foot-eleven Davante Cooper, and six-foot-seven Khalil Fuller, all of whom have heard from various high-major schools."

In this video, which is recent, he shows a lot of good skills blocking shots, running the floor, and even hitting jump shots!

Dave says there are 3 scholarships open, b ut that will change to 4 with the departure of Anthony Fields.
I know I am in the minority, but I would still like to see Bradley have at least 4 scholarships to offer for next year. I wonder if we will carry one. I know the other side of the discussion says to get players on the campus for development and contribute next year.

Just for class balance alone I wouldn't mind carrying at least 2 schollies over. I would like us to get one more big, because it seems like if they are big enough and you have the patience to wait 2 years they usually develop into role players more often than not.
But if the problem with spring recruits is that the best players that go to mid-majors commit in the fall, no need to load up on underwhelming talent. If we have 6+ spots to offer next fall then we can find some really good players.
I also would like to see some scholarships saved. Unfortunately with all of the departures, without signing a couple more, Bradley could be in real danger of not being able to hold a practice next season, when injuries and the flu season hits.
As happened here and happens all over, there will be players that have signed or committed that don't work out and will transfer because of very reasons. That will open up scholarships in the future as well.
I wouldn't mind one or two juco kids if they can help right away the way guys like Theron Wilson, Chris Roberts, Zach Andrews, Boogie, etc... did
Wichita and ISU have gotten stronger every year by adding solid juco kids who can shoot & score (Carl Hall, Cleanthony Early, Darius Carter, Tyler Brown, Daishon Knight, Akoon-Purcell..)

With Fields' departure, we still have 4 open scholarships for this year, and there are still 3 seniors on the team (Bell, Jones, Shaw) whose scholarships will open next year.
The roster is still short a couple players. and if no more recruits are brought in, Coach wardle will have 7 scholarships next year. So I think we need at least 2 more players added this spring (maybe one might be Max) to protect against injury, redshirt, or players leaving this year or next year (which happens every year).
