  • NCAA looking to change transfer rules

They want to curb all these transfers...or at least do something to change the situation...
INDIANAPOLIS – Kevin Lennon is putting transfer rule changes near the top of his priority list. The NCAA’s new vice president for Division I governance told the Associated Press there are growing concerns among the division’s 345 members over the surging number of students switching schools – and that the debate could come to a close sometime in the next year.

Not sure how that would affect the big boys..they would not be ablet o entice players away from other schools but at the same time it may hurt like in the Bradley and Max situation

It might help mid-majors if you think of the quality of players that generally change conference levels via transfer. For example, Sam Maniscalco transferred to Illinois, when he was the best player from Bradley. Max Biefeldt might transfer to Bradley, when he was merely a bench player for Michigan and his coach decided they would be better off not bringing him back when they could.

That is generally how it works. Ray Rice was an all valley player that went to the big ten. John Ekey would have been a starter had he returned. Reggie Lynch was arguably the best center in the valley. In exchange Mike Shaw and Ibby Idjimde (sp?) came from the big ten to the valley.

I know there are examples like Paul Jesperson where good, possible starters move "down" to the valley but I think there are more examples of players the big boys would find expendable leaving and the little guys losing more valuable players. Just my opinion.
      Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

as I understand it - the NCAA doesn't seem as troubled by the graduate school transfers.
I would be surprised if any big changes happened there.. but I also wouldn't be surprised if NCAA makes silly changes that actually worsen the problem -

they have a history of doing so

NCAA also like to shorten the shot clock to just 30 seconds
Men's basketball is likely heading toward reducing its shot clock from 35 to 30 seconds, the chair of the NCAA rules committee told ESPN.com on Monday.

The shot clock isn't the problem. It seems like there were more points scored per game, before the shot clock and the 3 point field goal. I remember watching Bradley games in the 60's and 70's and it was rare a the losing team to score less than 65 or 70 point.

The athletes may be quicker and better now, but I feel the game was better back then. It certainly was more entertaining and you didn't see the stupid fundamental mistakes you see now. Players would actually pivot and ball fake, head fake in the post area, throw a bounce pass. Not now, it's all shake and bake.
