  • Other available 2015 recruits

We'll start this thread to post info about other available 2015 recruits that might realistically be a target for one of Bradley's remaining scholarships.
I am not saying Bradley is involved, but a former BU recruit and DePaul commit just reopened his recruiting and would fill a need for Bradley-

Sometimes a new recruit becomes available because they improve the SAT or ACT scores very late in the school year. Here is a case of that.
Javonni Harrell is a 6'7" 200 pound post player at Oak Park-River Forest High School. He is a low to mid D1 caliber kid who was getting no recruiting interest because his grades appeared to force him to re-classify as a 2016 recruit. But he just boosted his ACT score to qualify as a 2015 recruit-

I have not seen him play and don't know if he could play for an MVC-level team, and he could still end up at a juco, but he's an interesting prospect.

Article from a year ago when he was being projected as needing to go to a juco-

And this one from early in this past season-

      Here's a kid that's a marginal target....
he was one of the top juco big men in the nation and went to Oregon but played behind Elgin Cook (another Bradley recruiting target) and now is looking to transfer.

On the upside - he has skills and comes from Lawrence North HS in Indianapolis and is known to our assistant Drew Adams.

On the downside - he has not yet completed his degree and unless he can get it done this summer - his transfer would cost two years of scholarship with him sitting out one year just to spend his last year here.
Michael Chandler (25) Center - 2014-15 | JUNIOR SEASON Played in 19 games and scored 42 points in his first year as a Duck. Also shot a solid 70 percent from...

one other transfer who has already pledged to Tulsa - come with an interesting background...
lots of lies, false documents, proven impermissible benefits, and connections to corrupt AAU bosses and shady drug characters who are now in jail..

Here is another big man that just became available-

Chris Olivier is a 6'8", 245 pound center who played the last 2 seasons at Eastern Illinois. He was EIU's second leading scorer at 13 ppg and top rebounder at 5.3 rpg in the 2012-15 season.
Former Bradley coach Jim Les actually recruited Olivier when he was at Seton Academy in South Holland, Ill. But ne did not qualify out of high school in 2010, and ended up doing a year at Quakerdale Prep in Iowa. He signed in 2011 with Northern Iowa, where he was injured at the beginning of his freshman year and redshirted. After transferring and sitting out another year, he has played the last 2 seasons at Eastern Illinois. He will graduate and have 1 year of eligibility left as a 5th year grad-transfer.
I saw him play in Charleston last November against UC Davis, and he is a big man who has some skills. I believe he could help Bradley for 1 year. But he may also want to play for a potential winning team.

Chris Olivier (35) Forward - CAREER STATISTICSJUNIOR (2014-15): Played in 27 games with ten starts... missed six games from Jan. 24 to Feb. 12 with mononucleosis...

ESPN's Jeff Borzillo reports that 6'8" 245 Forward Chris Olivier already has a visit lined up to Iowa State.
Minnesota, VCU, and Fresno State have also been in contact.

This has the potential to eliminate Iowa State from the Max Bielfeldt sweepstakes.

And here is ESPN's newly updated list of transfers. Ex-BU player Josh Cunningham has moved up to the #9 ranked available transfer in the country.
Also on the list are Omari Grier, Tramique Sutherland, Kendahl Amerson, Jermaine Morgan, Xavier Taylor, and Nate Wells (already committed to Ball State).-

I think 6'11" Jeremiah April could be a good MVC center. We have had centers very similar to him. Other players unsigned i would like to see us go after include 6'6" 185lb Tevin Mack (4 star player)(Texas only school serious about him) Ebuka Izunda 6'10 210lb (Tennessee is making a push towards him) Levi Cook 6'10" 305lb from Huntington prep.(Made 1 visit to S Carolina back in Jan). Tommy Burton 6'8" 193lb power forward .from Alabama, Kobe Eubanks 6'5" 215lb power forward and then Josh Stamps 65" we are recruiting.

I think we've pretty much seen the end of the recruiting for Wardle's first group. He may sign one or two more big people, but the better players are already signed or have issues. Considering he got a late start in recruiting, it looks like he signed some guards that will be able to help in the future. It's going to be a long season next year, but we all expected that no matter who the coach was going to be.

With our lack of size, I think winning 9 to 10 games next year will be a great accomplishment. I believe we will see much better effort and more of a team concept next season and that will help us get through the winter.

I expect to see a very good early signing period during the fall session, something we haven't seen in a while, and the program to be vastly improved in the new coach's second season.

One more name we might be interested in...

A proven scorer... Jermaine Ruttley, 17.4 ppg and over 6 RPG.... a 5th year transfer from FAMU to Louisiana Tech but now reopening his recruitment due to coaching change at Louisiana Tech.
he was FAMUs best player - he's a grad transfer and immediately eligible - and has some ties to Central IL.

UALR and LA Tech were after him...but we still have one open scholarship...

btw- even tho recruiting news seems to have slowed down a bit - I hear from pretty solid sources that our staff's recruiting EFFORTS have not slowed down...
and that they are hosting someone on campus virtually every single day and often several on weekends...
Some are still 2015 guys but others are 2016-18...
We likely won't hear much at all about them or their names as this is the way our current staff does things...
kids have been here from Illinois, Florida, Texas, Minnesota

Actually, the recruiting will slow down a little starting Thursday. An NCAA dead period runs from May 21-29.

I don't think that any consideration is being given to 5th year transfers or JUCOs. If Bradley uses its last scholarship, I think it will go to a freshman "big". As a matter of fact, there is a rather tall young man on campus visiting today.

but an argument can be made for getting a player who can help now even if a one-year guy - then have that ride open for 2016
getting yet another 2015 player might add to difficulty finding playing time

I agree with you 100%. It just seems that the coaching staff is committed to not adding JUCOs.

My concern is who are you going to clear out for 2017 recruits. As of right now, there are No JRs in the program.
