Curious change in press coverage

We are all different. I cancelled my subscription 4+ years ago and never read the PJ Star anymore (like a lot of people), except when they post something online that is relevant to my interest in Bradley basketball. I have not missed it one bit.

But surely you have noticed that before the last coach had coached his first game, they had posted numerous articles about the new coach, the new players and recruits, and hyped everything about the program and the way they were doing everything "the right way". Yet we now all know how wrong they were.
And now, despite having access to the team that none of us will ever have, they barely mention what is going on with Bradley basketball. So be it. Just more reasons for readers to drop their subscriptions and ignore them.

Would cancel my paper if I didn't like to read with my morning coffee. Don't take long because I throw the editorial page out as soon as I open the paper.

That their own readers don't care and have never cared what they write.

You misunderstood.....It's not that I don't care otherwise why would I read them at all? I just don't open the paper and wonder what am I going to read about Bradley basketball today or scrutinize an article every time I read it either......I've commented many times over the years about good columns and articles.

that's exactly it...we also comment when there are good articles and we appreciate it - we just don't see them very often any more..

Elsewhere cited - I pointed out that by this point in November last year (2014) both DR & Kirk had written numerous very positive columns and extensive coverage of the upcoming Bradley season...one even claiming BU's big men were so good & so deep they were the best since Donald Reese!

...they were a literal promotional department, publicists, defenders, & apologists for Geno & Bradley basketball then it came to a screeching halt.
It's obvious they don't like what's happened, Kirk STRONGLY stumped for the fans to be much more patient and give Cross & Geno several more years...
they were angry that their guy (and guys & gals) are all gone, and that the fans are the winners in all these changes.
They have every right to feel that way - we're just noting it in the course of our Bradley basketball discussions.

Ha, LOL, the PJ Star does sponsor a forum that indeed DOES scrutinize and discuss endlessly - everything ever said on this board!
One such thread is 660 pages long!! LOL... If there's anyone pathologically obsessed with what others are saying - then the PJ Star has to take responsibility for sponsoring it.

One more thing....FWIW - take it or leave it...
..more than once some new poster has sent me a private message asking me IF I AM DAVE REYNOLDS, stuff that is in their coverage is stuff we have or that I have posted days to weeks previously - some almost word for word. - LOL.

This link is just plain *****ic to say the least. Some people need to get a life. I like Lefty ,never wake up and to have my day made if DR or KW wrote about our Braves that day. I will admit it is a nice surprise when there is something in the paper about our Braves but it doesn't ruin my day and when it does I'll start to worry about what the hell is wrong with me.

well, getting back to the reason this thread was resurrected....

in a way - tho not at all for the same reasons - what just happened at Mizzou with thousands and thousands of people pulling together to effect a change at the top ......
and lot of people are applauding them for getting it done...
But my point was......fans at Bradley did the same thing for different reasons - with only a few people - but got it done never-the-less with complete change at the top...

.... I thought the JG era was going to be a lost decade. It may take longer than a decade to recover.

Reynolds and the new Prez are pros. The right decisions for the right reasons will be made.

it will take several years to correct all the harm, reverse the financial damages, and also a few years at least to get people back into the arena and get attendance up.

But I do agree with you that we have made huge strides in the right direction with Dr. Chris Reynolds & Brian Wardle - and now also with Dr. Gary Roberts as incoming President.

since you have some pretty good insights to the workings of the Board of Trustees - tell me...
will those former members of the Board who saw what was coming, tried to stop it, and who were then literally run out because they didn't buy into the crap that was going down - ever want to return to the Board and serve again?

Fine, loyal, and generous people like Robert Turner, Harry Puterbaugh and others - who were willing to give millions of their own money and serve on the Board, but who were run off when they tried to point out the mismanagement of finances - will they consider returning?

Ridiculous to compare the Missouri situation to Bradley's. Afraid this is only the tip of the iceberg. Hope others don't keep kissing ---.

As I referenced...protesters have so often demanded changes then instantly been unhappy with what they asked for - so time will tell...

I've got to agree with Chico on this one. I doubt the turnover at Bradley had very little to do with anything more than financial reasons, as well as the plummeting attendance and numbers in the win column of the basketball team.

Caring? Bull. Our fans had a reason to be unhappy. If Missouri was undefeated they wouldn't have protested. As I said earlier, just the tip of the iceberg.

It is highly unlikely that the key Trustees that objected to the mismanagement will return anytime soon. Until the Board is purged of the leftover responsible parties that allowed the mess to happen....the more sophisticated former trustees will steer clear.

And that is a shame.....what happened with Turner and the loss of his involvement is an unqualified body blow. JG finally blew herself up trying to take on certain people .....along with driving the university into a deep ditch.
