  • Max Bielfeldt leaving Michigan and transferring

This has been anticipated for a couple months, but it just became official a few minutes ago. Max Bielfeldt has been granted his release from Michigan, and will transfer elsewhere to continue his education at grad school, and to play his final season of eligibility.

I think Bradley may have a scholarship open for him...

Jim Mattson reports that Max is considering a list of 6 schools for transfer. they include Bradley and Illinois State.

With ISU center Reggie Lynch leaving ISU and transferring to Minnesota, the Redbirds are a bit desperate to land Max. My bet would still be on Bradley.

      apparently not any more...........

Max just said this to a Michigan (MLive) reporter

"With (LeVert) taking that scholarship, any little option of something else happening -- me coming back --
got a little bit smaller," Bielfeldt said. "The odds aren't very high that I come back here next year."

"I wasn't sure at the time (a week ago when he said he might return to Michigan) of what the options were
and all the different factors going one,
but no, I wouldn't want to be a walk-on here next year," Bielfeldt said."

The release essentially gives Bielfeldt permission to pursue a new destination as a graduate transfer and freely talk to other schools and vice-versa.

Max basically confirming to Michigan fans that he won't return to Michigan next season as a walk-on.
Max enjoyed a pretty good career at Michigan, despite injuries and not playing as much as he might have liked. He played on 2 outright Big Ten Championship teams, two NCAA Elite Eight teams, and one NCAA National runner up.

If Max goes to ISU I will lose my lunch, dinner, breakfast -- whichever I had last.

Have also heard that Stanford is in the mix as well.

That is reported to be the case by Jim Mattson, so... the varying reports have these teams in the mix...
Bradley, ISU, UNI, Iowa, Mizzou, Wichita, Missouri State, Butler, UC-Davis, Iowa State, Stanford, and possibly still Michigan if another scholarship opens
Oddly there are no reports that Illinois is in the mix yet that's the school he once wanted to play for.

Unless he wants to stay in the midwest, Stanford would be hard to pass up. However, I'm not sure how much playing time he would get.
