Hope he got a big bump in pay. Why else would anyone go from Florida to Green Bay in the winter? Hope Barone joins our staff. Like I said on a another post, it's usually not good news when your school has an opening and they open it up but Brian we'd love to have ya.

UWGB Athletic Director Mary Ellen Gillespie's stated intent was to conduct a secret search, not reveal her candidates or finalists, and then make a decision and name a new coach quickly. But the process has been just the opposite. Her search has now dragged on for 2 weeks, and virtually every move and every candidate has become public.
Now it even sounds like the decision who to hire is being botched.

Name after name, as many as a dozen total, have been leaking out over the past 2 weeks as Brian Barone has been kept hanging in limbo. Then today, multiple national and regional sources announced that one of the candidates, Linc Darner of D2 Florida Southern, would be the next coach.
But now it seems that was premature at best. Both UWGB and Florida Southern are denying that job has been offered to Darner, and that the school's search is still continuing.

Gillespie and UWGB are starting to make the 2002 and 2011 Bradley hirings look like models of success and efficiency!

It may not be the Athletic Director or the University of Wisc. - Green Bay that are leaking information. It may be people that like to think they have an inside source to the information when they actually don't. This appears to be the case.
