Corey Hawkins selected to participate in 3-point contest

The initial rosters for the State Farm Slam dunk and 3-Point Championships have been released, and Corey Hawkins of UC Davis will one of the participants in the 3-point competition.

The event will be broadcast Monday, April 2, at 6 PM Central time on ESPN, and additional competitors will likely be added.

The college 3-point contest was held last night.
Corey Hawkins, who was the top 3-point shooter in the country over the season, had a bad shooting night and did not qualify to advance beyond the 1st round of the contest.
The 3-point contest was won by Kevin Pangos of Gonzaga.

Corey Hawkins will also participate in the Reece's NABC College All-Star Game, and he'll play for the West team.

The game is being be played in Lucas Oil Stadium, on the same floor the Final Four will be played on, tonight (Friday) in Indianapolis.
The game tipped off at 3:30 PM Central time this afternoon, but will not be televised until tomorrow (Saturday).
The game will be shown on tape-delay Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM Central on the CBSSportsNetwork- Channel 531 and 963 (High Def) on Comcast cable.

Seth Tuttle and Lawrence Alexander will also be playing for the West team.

The West head coach was Jim Crews of St. Louis, and his assistant coach was Chris Hollender, who is an Evansville grad who had been an assistant under Crews at Army several years ago, and most recently was an assistant at Mississippi State under Rick Ray who was recently fired and replaced with Ben Howland. So he is currently without a job.

The East head coach was Tim Miles of Nebraska, and his assistant coach was Ron Coleman, currently of Bradley (but not likely to be for long).

Could this be a clue where Coleman's next job might be?

Coleman was an assistant coach under Tim Miles at Northern Colorado, then moved with him to Nebraska and became their Director of Basketball Operations. So he has worked for him before.

In addition to Corey Hawkins' game-leading 20 points, Lawrence Alexander scored 8 points, and Seth Tuttle scored 5 points.

Hawkins was 4-5 on threes, Alexander was 2-5, and Tuttle was 1-1.

It was won by a Division II player from Delta State University named Laquavius Cotton. He can really jump.
Other participants were Wisconsin-Green Bay’s star Keifer Sykes, Wichita State’s Tekele Cotton, DePaul’s Jamee Crockett, Purdue’s Jon Octeus and Toledo’s JD Weatherspoon.
