I could see maybe Belmont joining the Horizon. Murray State plays football and has a very respected football program. They also play baseball. The Horizon does not play football and they only have 6 teams that play baseball.
The Horizon is a much colder climate in the spring and is not as conducive to baseball, with all the rain outs, snow outs and cold outs.
Murray State would have nothing to gain by joining the Horizon.
Even now, the MVC should seriously consider an expansion move and take in Belmont before we lose them to the Horizon. It would be a great move for the MVC
I could see Belmont going to the Horizon. They already are a member of the Horizon league for soccer.
As I have said previously, I think Murray State will stay put. They really have nothing to gain by joining the MVC. If the Valley had football, Murray State would be a natural. I don't think they would want to play in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Their traveling to North Dakota and South Dakota would be long trips. In addition, Murray State is almost always in the hunt for an NCAA bid in men's basketball, as a member of the OVC.

I would love Belmont in the MVC, but as I understand it, they weren't interested when Loyola was added. They like the southern regional element of the OVC, as they don't travel more than 5 hours to any road conference game.

I agree. I'm not sure the money is there to match the risk for MSU.
