Just curious what reason you'd have Fife at the top of your list?
He quit on the IPFW people just as they were building their program up.
Plus, the Tom Izzo coaching tree has had its share of problems. Fife's only head coaching job was not real successful. I guess I'd prefer someone who showed they could win over time and win with the players they recruited.

          Coaching Candidates

Brian Wardle sounds great! How about Young Barone as an assistant?

I don't have a problem with Fife's reasons for leaving IPFW. The resources there were very, very limited and over time became a real source of frustration. As far as his record goes, he was not extremely successful, but he was coaching a program that had only been D-I for about 5 years when he took over, and he improved the program pretty significantly in comparison to its first 5 years. His last season, he won 18 games and finished in 4th place. Fife was also a very young man when he took over the program at IPFW (25 years old). I suspect that he has grown and learned a lot since then. All of this aside, I can understand why others don't like him as much as a candidate. In the end, it's just a hunch. As many others have said, I'll support whomever Chris hires.

I like Wardle because he can do this on our sidelines and THIS would compete with Gregg Marshall any day!

              Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

I sure agree with you! Versace was a winner and spoiled us.

Maybe I've missed it, but whatever happened to the LaVall Jordan from Michigan intriguing possibility that surfaced a few weeks back? That would have been my top choice . . . for two reasons.

Who I think will be named the next coach at Bradley, since the JH option was nixed-
Probably Brian Wardle - it's possible he's already been offered the job. We'll know shortly...

Note: Wardle signed a 5-year contract in 2010 with a base salary of $133,000, with extras and incentives that pushed his total closer to $200K per year. He then signed a 5-year extension in April, 2014, that boosted his base pay to $230,000 with additional income and incentives that put it about $300K. So it would probably take and offer around $400-$450K per year to get him.

Let's make sure that he doesn't have a buyout that ends up getting us sued like that last time.
Might be a good coach and until he got reprimanded this year for player mistreatment might have been at the top of my list but dropped down and I really think we have better candidates if they are interested.

To be fair, I do not recall, nor can I find any report that he was "reprimanded" for any actions. He was accused of improper actions, but after an extensive review by the university, he was allowed to continue coaching without any penalty, and the reports were simply placed in a file for any possible future reference. It appears the worst penalty was that he was assigned an "adviser" to help him improve his treatment of players (basically to teach him not to swear). I suspect this part was to satisfy anyone who was offended that he used vulgarity.

Of the potential candidates listed in the paper, I would prefer Mike Davis or Anthony Grant. Both have head coaching experience and winning records at big time schools in power conferences. My concern would be if Nagy is so good why has he spent 20 years at South Dakota State. It can't be because of the nice winters. Dane Fife doesn't impress me as much as Davis or Grant. And for Wardle, making a couple of NIT appearances with Green Bay doesn't equal what Davis or Grant have accomplished.

For some reason, my gut feeling tells me the coach will not be one of the people listed in the paper today.

Chris Reynolds is playing his cards close to his chest and that is smart.

the mere fact that the Board of Trustees chose Dr. Glasser to introduce Chris Reynolds - who was hired clearly over her objections - tells me the BOT still is making some dysfunctional decisions even tho I like the choice of Reynolds.
I still get some odd vibes how this is all unfolding - with the board making so many bad decisions over the past several years -
New Board guy Jimmy Shadid seems to be steering the recent decisions in the right direction

Here's agreat idea - stream the Board of Trustee meetings live to viewers!
The Penn State Board of Trustees will hold its regular bimonthly meeting on Friday, March 20, at Penn State Hershey. Penn State Public Media will stream the meeting live at http://wpsu.org/live online.

btw - did you see this...
The Loyola fans are already talking about hiring Chin Coleman as soon as they can and then expecting maybe Cunningham to transfer? - http://www.ramblermania.net/forum/vi...hp?f=12&t=1098

What about a return of Jim Les? Anyone hearing that rumor?

I would enjoy seeing JG introduce him.

I don't see why anyone would want to transfer because of a coaching change. I think they have just been given a good reason to stay.

I would not be surprised if Chin Coleman winds up at UIC, Loyola or DePaul. It would be a good move for any of those schools.
