  • Geno Ford is fired

...sorry if posted inside other threads- but thought this needed a thread of its own...

CBS has a comment but seems to tie this all to contract issues four years ago = really stupid

I am curious to see if Dave Reynolds and a few folks on twitter go ballistic griping about this being posted before an official release is made...
I mean, if we are gonna be fair and consistent then call them up or have someone from Bradley scold them for saying things that are not true.
If not then please, how about an apology to those you have ripped when they beat you to the story?

Yes, as we have been reporting since yesterday, this was a done deal and was going to be announced officially on Monday by the new AD. But Geno apparently wanted the news out today. So be it.

So as we have been predicting for a couple months, it is a clean sweep, and that is exactly what Bradley needed.

Now there is one key decision left... who will Chris Reynolds hire?

just read the pjs excuse list - injuries, illnesses, suspensions, and yet still held strong at 2nd best attendance....
LOL....our attendance dropped from about 10K to 5K and Creighton left the MVC so somehow Dave Reynolds counts that as a great accomplishment by Geno - he never ceases to give us a laugh

I guess I would expect some see it that way especially those like Dave Reynolds who has been saying how great a coach Geno is for four years despite a lot of fans not seeing that

-"I inherited a last-place team" said Geno - but that is technically wrong...
he inherited a team that finished tied for 9th then promptly finished all alone in 10th his first year

            - also literally half the article rehashes all the injury excuses yet almost every year from 2008 thru 2011 had far more games lost to starter injuries than this year had....interesting that now becomes a valid alibi to use endlessly - but not unexpected...

and I have seen comments about people hating Geno - omg - nobody hated Geno and they sure didn't treat him anywhere near as bad as they treated the prior two head coaches...

I wish Geno the best. Great guy, just couldn't turn this team around. I really hope JC stays.

Not that these lame injury/suspension excuses matter now, but for Dave to still be preaching the injury issue is a bit absurd. His article says-

Some of those 2014-15 numbers can be attributed to not having a full squad available ??“ because of injury, illness and suspension -- virtually the entire season. Then when guys did return to action ??“ particularly guards Tramique Sutherland and Warren Jones ??“ the team had to learn to play together on the fly through a revolving door of lineups.

The only significant injury to any player who was a consistent starter and major contributor was Tramique Sutherland's. And he only missed the first few games of the non-conference season. Injuries did not play a significant part in the 10th place finish in the MVC season.
And to somehow cry about the "revolving door of lineups" is equally absurd. That revolving door was entirely Geno's choice because many of the players he and the media touted as impact players and stellar recruits just didn't pan out.
Geno chose to bench guys like Shaw, Morgan, Taylor, Bell, Fields, and Grier late in the season, and play guys like Nate Wells (who hardly ever saw the floor in the first 25 games), not because of any injury issues, but purely out of his own coaching decisions.

Come on T I'm not sure what rose colored glasses you're looking through but in a 10 team league if you are tied for 9th your in last place. Whether you agree with Dave or not, and you and Da Coach clearly do not, do you really expect anything different than what Dave has reported over the last few years? Again you don't have to agree with it but it's what Dave believes.

I do not have a problem with Lefty. He has always been a courteous poster and does provide a different point of view. Personally I would welcome any poster that follows the rules of this board. The more the merrier.

Dave's article seemed factual unless you are concerned about the 10th place team versus a two team tie for 9th. That would not seem enough to quibble over.

Good riddance, Geno. I don't care if you're a nice guy or not. You were a lousy coach and you decimated our beloved program and no amount of excuses is enough to make up for the lack of discipline on and off the court. The Geno years have provided us with the worst shooting, passing, and defense I have ever seen from a BU squad and I look forward to getting someone in that position that knows how to bring out the best in our players instead of giving excuses.

And as far as the PJS goes, you can make excuses for Geno all you want. It's sad that you never offered the same courtesy to Les who suffered far greater injuries in his last 2 years at BU than anything Geno had to deal with.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

I respect people who have the conviction to bring forward a minority opinion. That's what makes this a healthy group.

I like most on here, was sorry to see the Geno era fail. One thing I can say is Geno went out with some class. Like someone printed in the media or posted, one of his better traits was his lack of an ego. He was always friendly when approached and I see no reason to beat a dead horse and post things that show a lack of class. I know that wasn't the case when we let JL go but two wrongs don't make a right. Now the pressure is on Chris to hit a home run. Think he's the man to get er done.

Often times mid-major coaches leave successful programs for more money/bigger schools--Thinking back---who was the last person to coach Bradley bb who was not fired?? It seems like most of the recent coaches we have had were fired??
                              Bradley football--undefeated again this year
