Apparently the Big 12 isn't so BIG. Down goes Baylor, 57-56, to Georgia State.
I don't care if my brackets are in shambles. I love this tournament and how it levels the playing field. For a couple of weeks, it matters not how many times you are on TV, how big your budget is, how many McDonald's All-Americans you recruit. It's what you do on the court for 40 minutes.
I love pulling for the mid-majors. Keep the upsets coming, and especially good luck to Wichita and Northern Iowa. Glad to see the Valley doing well in the other tournaments already.Yajusneverno!

Too Much
First BU slogs through another disasterous MBB season.
Then Hunter Pence out with broken arm for Giants after Panda disses them..
Then Gore, Crabtree, Iupati, Willis, Skuta, Culiver, Cox and Borland, gone from 49ers.
Now my alma mater, Iowa St, dogs it vs UAB and is out of NCAA MBB Tourney in Rd 1 (shades of ISU choking vs Hampton in Rd 1 before).
Why God? Why?
Haven't your faithful suffered enough?BUilding for the Future

I didn't know you were an ISU alum too, AZ. That was brutal today, but after overcoming double digit deficits to win 5 straight games, the problem today was we never got far enough behind to win.

story on how March Madness runs can be so beneficial for midmajors...
"..It was transformational for our entire school, not just our basketball
program, not just for our athletic department...
We literally had people who were coming here to campus to try to get a T-shirt
....FGCU saw ...a 39 percent jump in applications in 2014, one year after the
Eagles’ Sweet 16 run, as well as a staggering 68 percent boost to out-of-state applications.
..the school's incoming class of freshmen that year averaged an additional
two points on their ACT scores
Some of the financial benefits to a March Madness run are more obvious...
. ... increased sales for both tickets and merchandise. .... season ticket sales
nearly double...Increased season ticket sales attract corporate sponsors and
licensing deals...boosters see their alma mater on the national stage and
want to do their part to keep it there. ...allows for major upgrades to a small
program’s budget and infrastructure"

Alec Peters and Valpo got robbed - a couple bad calls - most notably the last play should have been 3 FTs and that out of bounds call at the end that was clearly a wrong call - even after they saw it on the video replay they still got it wrong.

anyone watching this Wichita State-Kansas game can see what real quality defense looks like - Wichita is really frustrating Kansas...
recall back about halfway thru the season when we were told that we had a really good defensive team just because scores were low?
LOL - nowhere close sloppy does not = defense

In the first weekend of play the BIG EAST has been a BIG BUST!
they got SIX teams in the tourney with remarkably favorable seeding (like St. John's seeded #9 and Providence seeded WAY better than Wichita and Villanova getting the #1 seed)...
and five are gone already ...with only the Remy Abell-led Xavier hanging in there - and getting break by facing 14-seed Georgia State instead of Baylor
Looks like the Big East has "cracked the code" and the NCAA is buying it and giving them multi-bids and great seeds - yet they are proving maybe some of the left-out teams like Murray State were cheated....

Maybe give their head coach Jerod Haase a call??
there are reports UAB is now giving him $1 mil per year ! - amazing for a school that was worried about cost of running athletic programs
