  • SIU players to transfer

redshirt freshman guard KC Goodwin and freshman Chaz Glotta will transfer
..Goodwin does not have a redshirt year remaining

neither played much and I suspect Barry needs some open scholarships to go out and get some players

Two Saint Louis players are leaving & transferring

Austin McBroom was their 4th leading scorer, led the team in 3-pt FG made & FT% and hit 43% from the arc
In their game vs. us back in November - McBroom was a one-man wrecking crew - he went 9-14 & 6-9 from the arc for 26 pts in their 3-pt win over Bradley

Tanner Lancona started early in the season but some discipline issues really hurt his playing time... he did not play in the game vs. Bradley.
He had previously verballed to Washington State, then ended up getting released.

McBroom is a 5'9" redshirt junior, meaning he has already spent 4 years in college (one at Central Michigan and 3 at SLU) and he used up his redshirt year after he transferred from CMU to SLU. If he wants to play another year, it will have to be at D2.

Lancona is a 6'8"sophomore from California with 2 years of eligibility left. But despite some impressive high school numbers, his averages at SLU as a sophomore was just 2.0 ppg and 1.0 rpg. He didn't show much, despite the fact that SLU was really hurting for size and rebounding. But big men are always in demand, so he'll probably get an offer.

According to this article, McBroom is on track to graduate. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/colle...7a087b262.html

With all the players leaving SIU - more talk there of unrest with Barry Hinson

..someone has found the link to Barry's actual contract..signed 3/28/12

As I read it - his original deal was 5 years, thru March 2017 but he has already been given one year's extension..(also shown in the link)
Compensation started at $250K and was automatically increased in 2014 & 2015...
As of March 31, 2015 he is now being paid $525K....really a remarkably good salary for how he's doing...

On April 1, 2016 it jumps to $700K

There are also numerous incentives based on winning, post-season play, ticket sales, etc...but I don't think any or many of those have been met.

The deal if Hinson is terminated by SIU is to pay the remaining salary in the contract, and nothing is owed if he's fired for violating the contract....thru 2018 (amended)...so if he were fired now SIU would have to spend about $2 mil to buy him out.

If Hinson resigns before the end of the contract or leaves to coach somewhere else,
he would have owed only $100,000 ...that's all....

with a new AD coming in it'll be interesting...
