One more interesting story-
Chasson Randle's played at Rock Island High School (class of 2011), and Bradley coach Jim Les aggressively recruited him starting way back in the early summer of 2008, before his sophomore season.
He made several unofficial visits to Bradley, and he sat next to my seats in Section 14 for a game in 2008. Unfortunately, Randle had a great summer AAU season in 2008, and the big school offers started coming in. He actually told me on one of the visits that he really liked Bradley, and even as the big school offers piled up (Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Iowa State, Wisconsin, and eventually even schools like Ohio State, Kansas and Stanford offered) he still continued to list Bradley as one of the schools he was considering until late 2009. But eventually, he dropped Bradley and settled on Stanford. But for a while he considered Bradley.
He won a state title at Rock Island, and he has had a great career at Stanford, becoming their all-time leading scorer, winning 2 NIT titles, and a Sweet 16, plus he was the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the year for 2014-15. He was voted the Most Outstanding Player of the NIT. And I believe he'll have a chance to play in the NBA.
