Bisping has been granted his redshirt and will stay at Siena for a 5th season - so not going to be a transfer or grad transfer

Just read that AP might graduate this spring and be eligible to be a grad transfer. Would he possibly consider BU?
Reports are he might go with his coach to Vanderbilt but boy would he be a difference maker for BU.

Only Alec might know at this point. But I'd bet he'd want to go to a higher level school to prove himself against better players, rather than a lateral move to a rebuilding program.

I would agree. He also probably wants to play in an NCAA or NIT tournament next season. I think his chances are better at Vandy. I also think going to Vandy would not be a lateral move. A better chance of getting to the NIT or NCAA and playing schools like Kentucky, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, Tennesee, Arkansas, Missouri and more. Or playing schools like Wichita, UNI, Evansville, Indiana State, Loyola, Drake.

He would be a huge shot in the arm for us at Bradley, but I would be stunned if he transferred to here.

Alec Peters is just a junior at Valparaiso, and he is deciding whether to stay at Valpo or transfer after his coach, Bryce Drew just left to take the Vanderbilt job. However, he also just filed to enter the 2016 NBA Draft, but like many underclass players, he will not hire an agent and will likely withdraw after he gauges NBA scouts' and executives' opinions of his game.

Alec Peters has until Wednesday night (10:59pm Central, 11:59pm Eastern) to make his decision if he wants to return to college.
If he does not choose to return to Valpo by that time, he must stay in the draft and he loses his NCAA eligibility.
Most prognosticators are pegging Alec from late 2nd rounder to the chance he might not be drafted - thus he's likely to return, but it's not 100% certain since we do not know what he might be hearing from the NBA teams who might like to draft him.

It is now being reported that Alec Peters has withdrawn from the NBA draft

a couple notes from the comments Alec made to the press...

"Peters is set to graduate from Valparaiso in August and could utilize a graduate transfer waiver to move to another school with immediate eligibility.."

                and
then another comment about how he might stay if the new coach designs the offense around him and gives him a chance to be the star offensively...
".... If they’re going to let me expand my game like that, it would be hard to leave this place.”

How hard did BU go after Peters in high school? I hear different stories. To me he is one of the biggest recruiting whiffs of recent years. You could watch him as a sophomore in high school and see the potential.

Geno received a lot of recommendations from various local people to recruit Peters, but I heard from someone close to the coaching staff that Geno thought he was not athletic enough to play at the level of Bradley. So he did not recruit him at all.
If anyone else knows more, feel free to post.

That could be true DC. I know the staff thought Taphorn had a bigger upside and they were similar type players. Who knows if Peters would have come or not? I heard he wanted an environment that fit him.

Water under the bridge now, but just don't understand such a colossal failure of talent evaluation. I went back to some threads from 4 or 5 five years ago and I and others were saying BU needed to be on Peters. Just don't get it.

there's debate but BU was on Peters up thru his sophomore season....following close and talking to him a lot..
but then as soon as the coaching change took place at Bradley - the new staff chose not to even contact him..ever - not even one phone call, much to the dismay of Peters and his family who at least wanted to have the local school in consideration...
Nobody knows if he would have chosen Bradley but it is a possibility that was completely lost as part of the fallout of the changes in 2011
If you look at all the offers he ended up getting - I have to believe a strong Bradley in 2013 would have been at the top of his list.

This guy ranks the TOP 50 college basketball players - then also adds 23 more as "Just Missed"
Every summer we make a list of the 50 best players in college basketball for the upcoming season. Here’s the list from 2011-2012, and from 2012-2013, and from 2

and he fails to list Alec Peters!
This guy's list has a ton of unproven incoming freshmen plus a few really longshot obscure players who aren't even returning with double digit anything.
                            Totally discredits himself!
There are no MVC players listed at all but understandable since there's no consensus on who is the best returning player in the Valley.

but way at the bottom he does note that enough people complained about the omission of Peters, that he mentions his name right before the end.

CBS ranks the Top 100 College basketball players, and Alec Peters is ranked #16-

Would have been nice to have at least offered him, but our former coaches did not think he was athletic enough to play.

NBA scouts seem impressed with Alec-

I watched Valpo play UIC today. Alec Peters was phenomenal. He had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and NO turnovers, despite being double-teamed most possessions.
Valpo beat UIC 96-65. Peters became Valpo's all-time leading scorer, and he only played 23 minutes because of the blowout. He could have scored 60 points if he wanted to. UIC simply could not stop him.
He played great on defense, too. The UIC player he guarded most of the time was 0-8 from the field.
Box score for the Valparaiso Beacons vs. UIC Flames NCAAM game from January 22, 2017 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
