The fact that he's not at Bradley really hurts. He's been a beast at Valpo. I think we could kind of use him...

Alec Peters named #2 on the list of 25 Athletes to Watch (Indiana) - compared favorably to LARRY BIRD! - I kid you not..
The sky is the limit for Valpo’s Peters, an incredible shooter who stands 6-foot-9,
a description that also describes Larry Bird, the greatest athlete to ever come out of the state
BTW - some are already mentioning Alec's name in the Mid-major Player of the Year discussion..

Valparaiso played it's first exhibition game tonight, and potential national Player of the Year candidate Alec Peters was awesome. He scored 34 points, and had 6 rebounds and just 1 turnover in a 75-67 win over a pretty good University of Indianapolis team (D2).

nice game as Valpo was hosting one of the recruits Bradley had been after... Chris Palombizio
but Valpo came very close to losing this exhibition - and needed all of Alec's 34 points...
this was a 3 point game with just 26 seconds left- when U-Indy had to foul to get the ball - and then Valpo made 5 FT in the last 26 seconds while Indy missed two 3-pointers for the final 75-67 margin

for the 2nd year in a row - Valparaiso's Alec Peters kinda got robbed...(not just me saying so... his AAU coach..)
Valparaiso is by far the best team in the Horizon, they are 16-2, and Alec is their best player and pretty much the reason they are where they are...
but he again loses out to another fine player - Oakland's Kay Felder

Alec Peters was ESPN's #1 Top Play of the Day for his buzzer beater shot that sent their tourney game to OT
Unfortunately Valpo lost in OT to Brian Wardle's ex-players (Green Bay)...
Peters is pretty good (32 pts, 12 rebs), the Valpo offense simply didn't give him the ball enough.

Valpo joins Wichita State and a couple other teams on the bubble as midmajor teams that are deserving of an at-large bid, but who could get squeezed out by the politicking by the NCAA selection committee to make sure at least 7 teams from the Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, and Pac-12 get in.

A couple really good articles on Alec Peters-
Chicago Trib - really nice coverage about Valpo going to New York for NIT Finals
Alec Peters and Bryce Drew were beaming after Valparaiso’s resounding win over St. Mary’s in the NIT quarterfinals. The coach put his arm around the star junior’s shoulder as they…
then there's a good front page column in the PJS about TWO local kids - Alec Peters and Brett Bisping, but..
the column does not appear to be anywhere on the website - only in print..
Anyway - there's no by-line, just credited to "Journal Star Staff" and sums up honors that both Peters & Bisping have accumulated including their recent NABC All District First Team honors.Last edited by tornado; 03-26-2016, 01:51 PM.
