The longer this goes on the worse it gets. Right now we are in no man's land. Geno is still our coach yet it's pretty clear he's not coming back. Recruits have to know that. Since a lot of recruits go to school because of the coach how can Geno honestly look them in the eye and tell them he's going to be here for the next 4 years. Get the AD hired now and have the new coach in place by the Final Four and begin the process of getting BU back to what we all want.

      Unfortunate

Vent if that is the case I will no loner be a season ticket holder. I may buy tickets, but like many, I will simply purchase the seats I have sat in for 20 years. No one else will want them.

I agree whole heartedly. There is no benefit to leave him in limbo like we are now. If you go ahead and fire him, it helps him get a head start on finding a new job. And it also makes it clear what the new AD's first task is, hiring a new coach. If it takes until April to hire a new AD or make a public decision on Geno it just makes it look like the University doesn't know what it is doing.
        Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

every day confirms what has been obvious for 5-6 years - that this Board of Trustees has been largely asleep at the wheel and handed the decision-making over to a clueless set of petty amateurs who were hell bent to use their power to hire friends and fire anyone they didn't like personally.

First, when they finally got around to realizing how bad their choices were, they tried to whistle past the graveyard and pretend it wasn't all that bad - hoping all the monumental disasters would miraculously solve themselves...
BUT finally when they read the stuff people and fans were writing - they figured it out and are now starting to act, but are so deep in a hole and doing everything bask-a&&ward and we have gone from laughingstock to national definition of the wrong way to do everything.
Personally I don't have a lot of confidence anything will get done right for years to come.
The HUGE bulk of good loyal fans have other things in their lives, kids, grandkids, vacation condos in Florida, etc....
If the clueless folks who wanted all this haven't figured it out by now they may never figure it out - that they've squandered virtually everything that made Bradley such a great place - now they're even gonna have trouble finding anyone who wants their open jobs without throwing even more $ millions at candidates, then hope someone in the Top 15 or 20 of those interviewed still wants the spots.

Well, does it? Talked to an ex Coach at several schools, and he said big schools when they lose a coach they have a list of coaches already and they start calling. Nothing like BU seems to be doing.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

That is what a lot of people have done the last two seasons. When individual game tickets go on sale, they go to the box office and get tickets for whatever games they want, and request their old seats. They stay away from paying a maintenance fee and also don't have to pay for games they don't want to see, against horrible non conference opponents. It also works out good for those people that go to Florida and Arizona for the winter.

If everything goes perfect, what you said could happen. We've got to remember this...Bradley is not as good of a job as it once was. There are coaches that will apply for the job and then withdraw as better jobs come open. In addition, as a few teams pull upsets and advance in the NCAA tournament, those coaches will start looking to move up the ladder at other schools. A few years ago, nobody heard of Shaka Smart at VCU and it seems every time a big job comes up, his name comes up, yet he is still at VCU.

As badly as I want to see a new head basketball coach at Bradley, I do not want to get in such a hurry that we don't get the best candidate possible.

I hope it goes the way you hope. I also hope they get the best possible coach. I don't know if either one will happen and nobody else does either.

I can see valid reasons for keeping Geno another year.

I don't!!! We need to get the process going now. There are a lot of good coaches out there so we don't need to rush but this is a dead year recruiting wise anyway. Why delay it another year and have 2 dead years. Bite the bullet for this year and get ready to recruit for the next year..

while that would be nice, it's just not that easy. BOT needs to hire an AD??¦..that's usually done by the Prez??¦??¦??¦they can't waste time but they can't just rush through without due diligence. We live in a microwave society for sure but we need to try to get all this right??¦.and even then there are no guarantees.
Hiring a coach without an AD is suicide??¦..hiring an AD without a Prez isn't as bad but it's not great either but probably our best case scenario right now. People taking jobs without knowing who their boss is will be kind of scary and anyone who is really good might not want to play in that arena??¦..it's just not a good scenario all the way around??¦..hopefully it all works out

If Bradley keeps Geno, there is a chance Bradley will be a little better next year, and maybe move up to 9th or 8th place, even though I don't see any way they pass anyone up. So then would we keep Geno another year?
IMO, this is the year to make the move.

The reason I can see an argument to keep him, besides all of timing issues mentioned in this thread, is that we now live in a disposable society, and sometimes that attitude gets carried over to people. If it were me, I would have gotten rid of Glasser, but kept Cross and Ford. Maybe those two would shine under normal working conditions. Eliminate one problem at a time so you can find the solution. Just napalming everything out of frustration isn't being very considerate to those who may well be good enough to do their job under different leadership.

Geno's record is firable. So is Jay Cutler's.

I'm not saying he definitely shouldn't be fired, just saying salient points can be made on both sides.

                            Athletic Director candidates

This is a "no brainer" for anyone who wants to see BU get back on track and end all of the uncertainty and delays, and move into next year and beyond with a renewed sense of optimism.
First, the BOT needs to hire the new Athletic Director ASAP.
Then, in turn, he can fire Geno and locate and hire a new highly qualified basketball coach who has a great track record in coaching and recruiting. There is NO WAY BU can retain Geno after his record over the past 4 years. To advocate retaining him for another year is lunacy!
All of this is very time- sensitive and must proceed without delay or the ship will have sailed with regard to the availablility of qualified coaches and recruiting.

I agree. I am not saying hurry up and hire a coach at all costs. But go thru the process starting now don't wait till next year.. It may take awhile to get the AD and then have him get the coach but still don't wait till next year to do it. Do it now and have next year devoted to recruiting

then why did our President do it with baseball then essentially do it again with basketball -
the AD openly admitting he favored keeping JL and wasn't all that involved in the selection of Geno,
and all the while the newspaper & a few fans going giddy claiming she made great choices?

where were those claiming "it is suicide" when we've been doing it since KK was fired?
