there is very little basketball talk here lately and I understand that too……
He has a good relationship with Geno and didn't have one with Les…..makes sense he may take it easier on him……some articles written about Les weren't all that negative in some peoples view but you thought they were exrememly negative…again different people have different opinions…..that's not a bad thing
However, I agree with Lefty in one respect. Lets talk basketball.

wonder if any of the former Athletic Dept. people who did such a great job would want to come back or submit resumes?
Many of these people were unfairly run out of our department by someone else purely for personal reasons - even though they are doing great jobs elsewhere and wouldhave helped us tremendously to avoid the disasters we've seen happen at Bradley the past 4-5 years.
Tom Hammerton - was Bradley's Executive Director of Development, and was largely responsible for the RECORD-SETTING fund raising back in 2004-2007 - LINK - LINK
Tom is now the President/Chief Development Officer of OSF Healthcare Foundation - LINK - and is extremely good at what he does - so I doubt we'd be able to lure him away.
Virnette House-Browning - currently Sr. Associate Athletics Director/S.W.A . at Cleveland State University - LINK
Cleveland State just finished their regular season 11-5 in the Horizon and are still alive in their Tourney
Dennis Kalina - Sr. Associate AD for External Affairs - LINK
John Searby - currently working for a consulting firm -
was Bradley's Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs - LINK -
John is a remarkably personable and well liked guy and well as fully competent, and would be exactly what we need
BTW - how many know this??
The super-secret Board of Trustees report from 2014 said this...
"Unrestricted contributions were down 46% (in 2014) to only $.8 million.
This was the only year in the past ten years where contributions were under $1 million."
-"Athletic losses continue to grow at a pace of about $.5 million more every year.
Ten years ago, the Athletics loss was $2.1 million and it is now $7.1 million."
-"Athletics (costs) have increased by 240%"
Thus at the very time the spending and waste has skyrocketed to UNSUSTAINABLE LEVELS,
donations have plummeted to historic lows - people are pulling out & leaving.
Obviously we sent our best people packing and replaced them with irresponsible, "unsustainable" spenders who are driving away donations and not doing a thing in development to raise new funds. No wonder the finances at BU are terrible, tuition had to be jacked and every department had to make bare-bones sacrifices.

Yeah??¦I doubt Tom would be interested now??¦not sure about Virnette??¦
I actually ran into John Searby in Atlanta as we were connecting flights a couple of months ago. John said Bradley and Peoria is a unique situation??¦
Of all those I think Dennis Kalina would make the most sense??¦..I never heard a bad word about him and think he was pretty well liked and respected here

I never knew Butterly, but the others, Hammerton, Virnette, Kalina, & Searby
were all incredibly great personalities who treated every fan as a friend and made people feel welcome & important - which is why they were so good at their jobs..
Every one of them was well-liked as lefty said....
any of them as well as a few others who have been named like Chris Reynolds, would do instant miracles in turning around the declining fan base and getting the interest flowing and the mood upbeat.
Hope the Board is listening - please do not bring in some Nurse Ratched-like personality that won't jive with our laid back midwestern/Peoria fans...
I know I will get slammed for sounding bigoted but the east-coasters all seem to think they are too good for us....

David Glassman, who was just named the new President at EIU - started his process of pursuing other positions a year ago - but...
I wonder if he'd have known the Presidency at Bradley was going to be open - would he have pursued it?
Or was his intent to go somewhere else all along?
We'll probably never know.

I am hearing that the Board is moving a little closer to naming a new AD. But it will still not happen quickly. I still expect a new AD will be named around the end of March or beginning of April, perhaps as late as after the NCAA final game on Monday, April 6.
That means a decision on the coach may not happen until some time after the AD is here. However, here is still a possibility the Board will move sooner to dismiss the coach, then allow the new AD to select a new coach.

I suspect this wouldn't be a great hire but the Syracuse AD may be looking for a new job
Calls for Daryl Gross to be fired are rising from Syracuse fans as a result of the NCAA Investigation into Syracuse.
And on a more tragic note Iowa State's AD just suffered a heart attack

As for Ford, the later it gets in the hiring and firing process, we may be better off waiting another year. The top available coaches are going to be gobbled up within the next few weeks. Best case scenario for Bradley would be to hire a new coach around the end of April. That may really limit the candidates. It would also put us in a position to take who nobody else wanted. I'm not sure that's in the best interest of Bradley.
