  • Congrats to UNI - MVC Champions!

Final score 69-60 - Tournament MVP will surely be Seth Tuttle but Nate Buss made a strong arguement - I just don't think they'll give it to a bench player after all the effort they spent talking up Tuttle.
ISU showed some great effort and good talent...but Ben Jacobson just schooled the rest of the MVC

I think that at this point in the season, these really were the best two MVC teams. Obviously ISU won't get a bid while Wichita will.

I'm not sure I've ever seen 2 halves that were as night and day different than those 2 halves. ISU played an almost perfect 1st half. They then played a perfectly bad 2nd half. That it all went away as quick as it did was just as stunning. UNI outscored ISU 19-4 in the first 6 1/2 minutes, getting the 1st lead at 41-40. ISU tied it up once on a 3 pointer with 8:12 left but UNI came right back with a 3 pointer of their own to take a lead they would not relinquish. Tourney MVP Seth Tuttle and Nate Buss led UNI with 15 points while Daishon Knight led ISU with 16 points. ISU shot 51% in the 1st half, 33% in the 2nd half while UNI shot 22% in the 1st half, 54% in the 2nd half. Named to the all tournament team were Tuttle, Buss, Knight, Reggie Lynch of ISU and Fred Van Fleet of Wichita. Congrats to UNI.

it seemed similar to the game we played them Friday night, where we played them well in 1st half then they blew us out in 2nd (44-21)?

...and similar to the game we lost at UNI on Feb. 21 where we played them well in the 1st half, then they outscored us 29-16 in the 2nd half?

Hey T neither one of those games comes close to comparing them to the ISU/UNI game. UNI took it to BU for about 34 minutes at Arch Madness and the game at UNI we didn't control the game at both ends of the court in the 1st half like ISU did. ISU dominated the 1st half, UNI dominated the 2nd half. Watching and hearing both fans reactions throughout the game was one of the best parts about the game. Hearing the disbelief from the UNI fans and the giddiness of the ISU fans in the 1st half and have there be a complete reversal of fortunes in the 2nd half was really amazing. ISU had been a Jeckyl and Hyde team all year. But not to that extent.
