Shockers win 56-45 - low scoring, low shooting percentages
Box score for the Wichita State Shockers vs. Southern Illinois Salukis NCAAM game from March 6, 2015 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

what made a difference - Wichita had trouble pulling ahead more than 6 or 8, so Gregg Marshall put sin a reserve forward Zach Brown & over a 5 minute stretch, Brown got free inside and sunk four shots - helping WSU pull out to a 17 pt lead...

Balentine seems really bothered by his injury. Haven't really noticed him too much. It's too bad, he was awesome during last seasons MVC tourney if i remember correctly.

ISU makes a nice 2nd half comeback and wins 71-67
The game featured seemingly a foul every possession - 53 FT's
and 3 key players fouled out...
Every starter except one on each team plus one key sub on each team had 3 or more fouls
Indeed Balentine was not nearly as much of a factor as he needed to be and was just 1-6 from the arc

In that early game, Fred VanVleet had 4 assists..
that gives him a career total of 447 - on pace by the end of his senior year to reach 600 or more...

So how does that compare to the MVC's all time career assist leaders??

Well - here are the TOP FOUR assist guys in MVC history - mouse over to read..
It will take his best season yet to reach these guys....

                  Bradley- Anthony Manuel 855
                  ISU- Jamar Smiley 740
Bradley- Jim Les 696 (played just 3 seasons in the Valley!)
                  Bradley- Daniel Ruffin 644

In the late game, Loyola absolutely annhiliated #3 seed Indiana State 81-53. Loyola lead by almost 40 points and they only got 7 points from Milton Doyle in limited playing time.
Game summary of the Loyola Chicago Ramblers vs. Indiana State Sycamores NCAAM game, final score 81-53, from March 6, 2015 on ESPN.

It looks like those hated Redbirds at ISU, that are poorly coached, may have a shot at going to the NIT.

I'm not an ISU fan, but I do hope if they don't go to the NIT, they turn down an invite to one of those, "pay if you want to keep playing tournaments" that mean absolutely nothing.

but Doyle had 6 assists and gives them another offensive weapon

Indiana State's guard trio of Brenton Scott, Tre Bennett, and Devonte Brown (who won multiple All-MVC acclaims) combined for just 6-25

I believe Greg Lansing's contract takes him to 2017... But does he only get 1 more year? The Sycamores were a VERY mediocre and underachieving team this year and finish under .500 at 15-16. There's always talk about how great of a coach Greg Lansing is but at some point, the rubber has to consistently hit the road...

ISU would be foolish to turn down one of those tourneys. Especially when you consider how many young guys we start ( 1 freshman, 2 sophs, a first year jr, and a senior).

More games against anyone, can't hurt their progression, IMO.

I understand that angle cpacmel, but these tourneys are just embarrassing. It's also embarrassing when you play in them/buy into them and there's even only about half of the 3500 fans that attended the games at Redird Arena that show up to watch them.
