  • Auston Barnes appreciation thread

As with all of Bradley's players through the years - I appreciate Auston Barnes...
He has gone through two really tough years - largely due to factors way outside of his control..
He has been one of our best and most reliable players - and I wish him the best in the future whether that means pro ball somewhere or otherwise.
Once Brave - Always a Brave - this morning's newspaper column seems to indicate Auston had a good two years at Bradley and liked his time here.

"My two years here have been a blast.

.... Before I came here, I didn’t have a major. The professors here have given me some direction. It feels like a family.
“At Bradley, I feel like I’m the adopted child they took in when nobody else wanted me."

I truly wish things could have been better here for Auston - more wins, some better players to compliment him, some post-season success -
and I hope for his sake the main blemish on his 2-year stay gets resolved satisfactorily.

Good luck & God Bless, AB - use your Bradley degree and have great success wherever you go!!

Here's hoping Auston has a great senior day and leads Bradley to the win.

Unfortunately, Senior Day has not been very successful the last few years. Bradley has never won a senior day game under Geno, and the last 2 have been huge blowout losses. The last senior day win was an big blowout win over Drake in Jim Les' last home game in 2011.

    Recent senior day results-
    2/25/14 Wichita State 69 Bradley 49
    2/27/13 Creighton 80 Bradley 62
    2/25/12 ISU 54 Bradley 53

He has always played hard and always tries to get his teammates pumped. You can see him in team huddles when they are not doing well and he is yelling. Best of luck to him!

Just logged in...was really hoping there'd be a thread like this for Auston.

I wish Auston had more than two years here. He had a unique skill set for this league at his size. I enjoyed watching him play. Was hoping he could turn into a go-to guy as a senior.

Auston has an important function on his calendar a week from today - hopefully that whole thing can get settled with the least troubles for anyone involved - and then AB can get on with his career if he chooses to pursue pro basketball.

What I remember about him is his free throw shooting; he was something like 89 percent.

Pity we couldn't get him to the line more often.

Auston Barnes has signed with a pro agent and looks to sign on with a foreign pro team..

Auston Barnes is in Bulgaria playing with BC Beroe...

they have already played four preseason games...

They won two & lost two

The only game with any stats pointed out that in their 2nd game - a 63-54 defeat to Balkan Botevgrad - Austin was leading scorer with 13 points.
I have no stats from the other games.

Here's a picture of the team training outdoors with Auston Barnes clearly seen as the 3rd player from the left in those odd green jerseys that are their home jerseys - their road uni's are black

at least Auston has someone he can converse with in English - as one other US college kid also just signed with Beroe
The Citadel's Ashton Moore became the most recent member of the basketball program to reach the professional ranks when he signed a contract with BC Beroe in the Balkan League.Click headline to read the full story on CitadelSports.com.
