Geno was on WMBD radio this morning and was asked about his situation. He sounded very upbeat and said all the right things....that he is still Bradley's coach until he hears otherwise, that he is still recruiting to get better next year, etc.

He was also asked if it would be better to hear whether he will be fired sooner, rather than later. He said it was not so important, as long as it is before April, when recruits sign Letters of Intent, and recruiting begins strongly for the next recruiting cycle.

Correct me if I am wrong--but IF Geno signs recruits this spring---and THEN gets fired--doesn't that allow any recruits that signed the option/choice to back out and withdraw their letter of intent since the coach is gone- and sign elsewhere?? I have also heard rumblings that Josh may consider leaving--wouldn't a speedy "Geno" decision help with all of this??

No that is not the case. Once a National Letter of Intent is signed and received by the school, the NCAA considers it binding for the next year. They can only be allowed out of the binding NLI if the school officially releases them. If they decide not to attend the school they signed for, they must play their own was and cannot receive a scholarship at another NCAA school. They could opt for a prep school year, as many have done.
However, most schools do allow such recruits out if they request it.

but let's talk some simple common sense here....
this cloud hanging over our coach's head is a complete and total disaster and will have a major impact in making it hard for him to get any decent prospect to sign..
Most kids will hear from multiple sources that it's crazy to sign with a coach & a program that are imminently going to make major changes from the coach on up to the President...
That's why we had the threads begging our Board to get it done soon! We have already wasted way too much time - this should have been done a year ago or back in January at the latest...

And to delay even hurts Geno. Of course, he will get paid for 3 more years if he's fired, but if he was interested in finding another coaching position in Division I, most of those for next year are filled in these next few weeks.
If Geno is fired and gets another job, that would save Bradley considerable money over the next 3 years, so there is even that reason to make the move quickly, or, if not, make an official announcement that Geno will be back next year so it doesn't hurt recruiting.

OK - going out on a limb here - but I have heard a few things...
it's all talk but then, what else is there to do - we won't be playing any basketball for the next 8 months...

First - long before the cut-and-paste crowd had ever heard the name - we were talking here on BradleyFans about the outstanding coach of South Dakota State Scott Nagy

I even personally put the guy high on my list because he lands quality kids who can shoot the basketball - something our fan base hasn't seen in so long they've forgotten what it looks like

Well - of course it was actually quite impossible to talk directly to the guy since he was coaching his team to the Finals of the Summit League Tourney - BUT....
But, they lost last night to North Dakota State and Lawrence Alexander ...
so I "have a suspicion" someone from Bradley is on the phone as we speak getting things explored.
              Remember this name -

              Then ...
a KU fan posted on one of their premium boards that he had heard Jerrance was leaving - so that opens up a very interesting discussion .. I have heard a few more things there as well but Kansas is still playing so no chance he's leaving yet.

ok since the original question asked...

I predict new AD hired April 2, then he will decide on head coach - I am sticking my neck out here but I think new AD will say he has other things on his plate (and won't admit it but will be pressured by others ) and that the head coach has a big group of seniors returning - so will let him stay one more year ..then we will finish 5-6th with the most experienced and senior group of players we have had in decades. This past year's attendance plummeted to 5700 but half those were unoccupied - but 2015-16 will see attendance drop to levels not seen since the Armory and maybe even before than - under 5K

Do we assume that CR has a predetermined list of candidates and that this process has already begun?

The worst thing we can do is rush into this in a post-AD hiring state of euphoria and rush a hire in prior to the final 4.

I post this hoping that the wheels are already in motion and assume that they are......

This has not been rushed, and will not be rushed.
These changes have been in the works for over 2 months. And yes, they do include some preconceived plans for the coaches who will work under the new AD. And from what I know, it will all be for the better.

If Howard is an actual candidate won't we have to request permission to interview him as long as Kansas is still playing? And if they do well, we can't actually make the hire until they are eliminated correct? Never been more willing to root against KU in my life.
                                Gotta stop feeding the trolls.
