  • Patrick O'Bryant

Don Nelson has finally gotten his way. He is known as a coach who does not like to play with rookies, and doesn't like centers. So even though Patrick O'Bryant appeared briefly in last night's Warriors game, he was sent to the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League after the game.
    Good luck the Patrick.

I talked with one of my friends who was at the Warriors game last night, she talked to Pat, and told me that he was indeed going down to the D-League. Sad to see this happen, but at least he'll now be gettting some regular minutes, which is exactly what a project such as POB needs. On the bright side, Pat might be making more money than the rest of the players in the D-League combined...

    Happy New Year everyone!
People need to recognize there is a huge difference between playing hard, and playing well...

Maybe this will turn out to be the best thing in the long run. I have no doubt Patrick has the skills and mentality to be an NBA star. He just needs a chance and playing time.

AV23, if you talk to Patrick, let him know he has a lot of fans back here that are thinking about him and pulling for him.

The best way for Pat to get better is by getting to play against other competition; this is a good thing.

Mention of POB in today's Sun Times--

And an article in the Bakersfield, CA paper.--

I hope he doesn't have to spend a long time in Bakersfield. I've been there and it's not a place I'd want to go back to.
I wonder if POB speaks Spanish?

Everyone knew POB was a couple years away from being a true impact player in the NBA. I'm not worried one bit.

              Yet.

I'm not going to worry about Pat unless he somehow blows the $9+ million dollars he's being paid.

The Warriors call up former Kentucky guard Kelenna Azubuike to replace POB on their roster. Azubuike was the leading scorer in the NBA D-League--

At the bottom of this article is a blurb about POB--
Rookie Patrick O'Bryant begins his assignment this week with the Bakersfield Jam, the Warriors' D-League affiliate. O'Bryant will be playing under former UCLA coach Jim Harrick and is expected to make his debut Thursday when the Jam host the Austin Toros.

I don't know where your getting $9 + million at BBrave.

                    1st year 1,718.1 million
                    2nd year 1,847.0 million
                    3rd year 1,975.8 million

Must be from the extra millions he gets from the basketball card companies and endorsements.

I don't doubt that Patrick will sign one of those $10 million a year, multiyear contracts someday. Heck if Joel Przybilla is worth that kind of money as a backup (he's averaging 2.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg), then I think POB will see a similar big payday someday. But these first 3 or 4 years the standard rookie contracts limit what rookies can earn.

Meanwhile A. Gray continues to see big minutes for Da Bulls with diploma in hand.

                              A. Gray knew he wasn't ready, so he didn't go early. If POB dominated him, he knew he had to stay.
