  • Illinois loses a player

Aaron Cosby, who transferred to Illinois after the 2012-13 season, sat out a season and is now a little-used junior on the roster for the Illini, has decided to leave the team.

They really want Marcus LoVett and needed an open scholarship

No thanks--I think he left Seton Hall to come to Illinoy--and had been indefinitely suspended at UIUC and we have had enough problems in house---plus Shaw has been a disappointment--no more Illinoy re-treads here please

I don't think a transfer to another D1 school is even possible. He played 2 seasons at Seton Hall, then sat out last year, then played most of this year at Illinois. He has only 1 year of eligibility left and he has to use it next year, So unless he graduates and qualifies for that 5th year post-grad transfer, he'd have to go to Division II so he can play next year. If he transferred to a D1, he'd have to sit out another year, which would exhaust his eligibility

          ok--Thanks Da Coach---I guess I mis-read the article

I thought he was planning to stay at UIUC and graduate this spring and then perhaps transfer to another DI school---

actually that is a possibility that he could transfer as a grad student and be eligible right away

I refer to them as Big10 Rejects... and NO - I don't want Big10 Rejects.

(for the record, Sommerville wanted out of Iowa and left on his own)
