MVC Men's basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 16
Weekly awards fro Feb. 23
Player of the Week- Ron Baker
Newcomer of the Week- Indiana State's Brenton Scott
also of interest - this posting by the AD at SIU... I like this kind of openness by an AD..
takes on issues that most schools pretend don't exist - helps explain & reassure fans about SIU's basketball downturn.
If I were an SIU fan - this simple effort by the AD would go a long way to reassuring me that they see the problem and are working to fix it,
and that they are not pretending it doesn't exist and blaming fans for being unhappy.
And this message is plain, simple, and right to the point instead of mumbo-jumbo, double-speak we see elsewhere pretending we're better than we've ever been since the Mitchell Anderson/David Thirdkill era.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee senior Steve McWhorter (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's/Indiana State) has been selected as the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced this afternoon by the conference office. The 6-foot-2 point guard is the first Panther to earn League Player of the Week accolades since November 18, 2013, when McWhorter himself earned the honor.
March 2 Player of the Week Loyola Christian Thomas
NOW - ISU's Purcell
Josh Cunningham mentioned with notable performance...
"Josh Cunningham of Bradley turned in the top
rebounding game by a Missouri Valley Conference
player since 1999 when he finished with 15 points
and 21 rebounds."

Since the league expanded to
its current 10-team format in 1997, only
one team that has played in the opening
round has reached the semifinals (won
two games). Bradley, seeded a No. 7 in
1998, beat 10th-seeded Drake and then it
toppled No. 2 seed Creighton, before falling
in the semifinals to Missouri State
